RBG's Need Help!

Rated Battlegrounds (RBGs) have so much potential, but they’re struggling due to a dwindling player base and the significant difficulty of putting together a group. For many players, RBGs are appealing because they’re the only Rated PvP content where you can team up with more than two friends. However, the barriers to entry and organizational challenges make it tough for players to enjoy this format.

I’d like to propose some ideas to help breathe new life into RBGs:

1. Increase Rewards for RBGs

One way to make RBGs more enticing is by improving the rewards.

  • Add exclusive transmogs, mounts, or titles that rotate each season.
  • Provide better Conquest rewards or bonus Honor.
  • Include unique achievements that encourage participation at all rating levels.

Making the reward system more compelling would motivate players to try RBGs and keep the queues active.

2. Allow Questing While Forming Groups

One of the biggest hurdles for RBGs is the time spent forming a group. Allowing players to work on world quests, farm materials, or otherwise stay productive while they search for teammates would make the process far less frustrating.

3. Implement a Pseudo-Raid Group Queue System

Instead of requiring a fully formed group to enter an RBG queue, create a pseudo-queue system that lets players start matchmaking with fewer than 10 players. This system could fill the remaining slots with other players who are also searching.

This option could be similar to solo-que BGs, or it’s own unique system that forms a raid group after finding players or simply it declares that a raid group with specific players will be formed after all players are found (this way you can still choose the team you want).

This would drastically reduce the time and effort required to assemble a team and get into the action.

4. Community Feedback and Brainstorming

This post is just the beginning—I’m sure the community has even more great ideas. Let’s work together to improve RBGs and restore them to their full potential!

RBGs are a unique and exciting part of WoW’s PvP scene, but they need some love to become accessible and fun for everyone. By addressing the barriers to entry and offering better incentives, we can bring life back to Rated Battlegrounds and make them a staple of the PvP experience once again.

Let me know your thoughts and suggestions—I’d love to hear them!

Thank you for reading,
Farmerdan

Did you use ChatGPT? A few things in this are downright wrong…

There is no such system.

PvP activities were recently removed from the Vault.

There is nothing about the Vault which will incentivize PvE players to play PvP.

I’m almost certain that PvE players can’t be incentivized to play PvP anymore, for any reason.

You’re correct. My apologies, there were some mistakes there. I edited to make more sense.

I think they should have just made Blitz be a solo or group queue into RBG’s, If you want to push higher cr then form a full team.

I used to play RBG’s 3-4 times per week (Australian Times) but now there is basically nobody queuing at those time. If I want to queue with a mate or 2 now I can’t find a group (or even make one as other teams are not queuing) we have to go our own ways and try to queue solos.

I don’t really enjoy healing Blitz’s as there is no co ordination (even if we do formulate a good plan at the start people seem to do there own thing) but maybe I will find time one day to try to push rating and see what it is like at higher mmr.

I also don’t really enjoy sitting in Blitz queues as DPS for so long waiting for groups either, just a waste of my time. Would rather spend 1/2 hour forming a group and then just play for 3-4 hours like we used to be able to in RBG’s (dragonflight start or xpac or shadowlands). I have considered forming 2 groups for Australian time and just queuing into each other but the state of PvP in general atm just feels bad.

I know some people seem to like solo queues and I am sure I will get flamed but team queuing with mates is what made WOW PvP enjoyable for me and now it is mostly gone with nobody playing RBG’s. People say the RBG community was toxic but I always found it quiet decent (played Australian times so maybe that is why). I think there are just too many people playing the game these days who don’t want to communicate or have bad social skills and think any form of communication is toxic.

This could be a possible solution.

I feel your pain.

Tagger’s not queuing anymore?

It’s like that for our teams as well. Takes 30mins to find a half-decent DPS.

Yeah it sucks because I love RBGs, but nobody wants to wait for a 30 min queue that restricts you from questing, or progressing your character in certain ways.

Rbgs is the best PvP format…it’s hands down the most enjoyable and best PvP rated stuff going on….
But no one wants to sit around waiting on a bear tank or fotm classes. It ruins everything. I don’t know why blizz doesn’t balance classes it’s beyond me.

One of the things I remember really not liking about RBGs is that there was no comp restrictions. Each team would have 3-4 healers and fights were very boring.

But the main issue was trying to find a group in LFG. It takes too long, and then people leave after one loss and you need to do it again.

These are all good ideas. The RBG community’s been begging for exclusive seasonal rewards for years, but for some reason, Blizzard doesn’t bother. Their art department can pump out so many cosmetics rewards every month for the Trading Post, but they can’t give an exclusive seasonal mount for RBGs? Blitz could’ve even been a gateway to get people into RBGs, but in terms of rewards, there’s no point since you can get all the RBG rewards from Blitz (except the Hero title and once you get it, there’s nothing else for you to earn that you can’t earn in literally every other rated PvP bracket). The main thing that’s been keeping RBGs alive all these years is the community of people who love playing it. It has potential if Blizzard would just invest in it more.

NOT Gonna happen. I have been saying we need effort from the devs in rbgs for years. They cant even give us a new Epic RBG. White picket fence houses with flowers are more important. WHY are bgs dead? WELL because BLIZZ DOESNT TEND TO THEM. They are literally letting them atrophy into dust. ION IS STILL bum hurt from the Ashran Failure. But instead of being a solid guy and getting back on the pvp horse, he reee’s about it all these years later.

Dude, right? I bet a ton of my friends would stay subbed if RBGs were more easy to put together and do.
