RBGs are broken - MMR doesn't provide remotely similar matches

I have a fleet of alts I’ve been wandering through the various YOLO rbg groups with since about Nov of last year and one thing I have noticed time and time again are 0-win and sub-500CR teams consistently placed against teams of full 1600+ players.

it’s every. single. $%&^@. match.

It’s bad enough that you can be 2400 in 2s/3s but 0 in RBGs and be considered a flat 0 for MMR, but every single sub-40k yolo team somehow queues as 1700 on first match.

It’s just exhausting to where I’ve given up hosting YOLOs and just started making 1600+ groups since that’s all you’ll ever face anyways (and the kicker? I’ve never once faced a YOLO team once I am in a 1600+ team even though as a YOLO, 1600 teams are 24/7)

Just a /rant because it’s months of this nonsense and it’s every single time.

You definitely have and just aren’t realizing it.

Well, that’s because there’s manipulation. They use an average. Take one 900 goof and you can drop yourself 1000 CR.

RBGs - way more than arena - needs a solo que option badly. For both Average manipulating and also the Raid Framework that comes with current RBGs.

Solo queue would fix this but it would open up a whole new box of problems.

Problems such as?

Your team getting absolutely dunked on because you had a prot pally queue and end up on your team and they had a guardian druid on theirs.

Or your entire dps line is enhancement shamans feral druids arcane mages blah blah blah vs they rng’d their way into the bis meta comp

So in solo queue of any kind, you don’t weigh it based on one match but 100. The tank thing will get distributed.

As will the DPS, but also DPS should be limited to 3 melee, 3 ranged

I don’t agree that over time it comes out as a wash, and even if it did, that means 1) number of games played matters more than skill and 2) it doesn’t make any of those losses less frustrating to play through. 3)it’s a bad system where you know going in that a X amount of games are just irredeemable losses

So normal battlegrounds are a bad design?

normal battlegrounds arent for rating. normal grounds are pick up games, not competitive. i think in random bgs then the system works just fine because theres nothing on the line. no titles, no mounts, no accolades of any type.

I will quote myself from a few weeks back…

"simply flag arena gear non useable in rbg’s or bg’s

—or—

make cr arena and rbg wide…this way 1400 rbg teams wouldnt have to face 2k geared teams that have a 1400 or lower rbg rating…this will keep the 2k geared peeps in their respective brackets and not have the playground time of steamrolling 14-1600 teams…"

this mysteriously got buried real quick…couldnt find the post within 3 pages after a few hours of posting it.

Awful. Makes a dead bracket even deader.

Also terrible, would result in alts that couldn’t be played.

how would removing gear obtained in arena make any bracket in rgb’s dead?
there doesnt seem to be a tonload of 1800+ players…if their not relying on the higher gear levels to increase their winrates against smaller teams then the high cr players can fight each other with no issues…if their truly “that good”
me personally…im not part of a refresher or training exercise for these high rated teams…

now…how exactly would making cr arena and rbg wide be hurtful to alts???
I absolutely do not understand this at all, this needs clarification…how is a 1400 alt affected by not having this 1400 alt play against a 2k geared toon on an opposing team?

its not the gear right? its the skill…its the setup…its all the constant cc chains…not picking or calling you out dude but this statement sounds like you condone high cr teams against low cr teams because “they might have to wait a bit longer to play instead of being put in with a lower cr team right away”

ok well that’s kind of the basis for statistics in any competition. Over 100/1000 games you eliminate abnormalities.

that assumes you play 1000 games. It’ll come closer to a wash the more games you play right?

ive been hovering around the 1900-2k area of RBG’s on my feral just playing when friends need an FC… i have barely over 100 games played. i couldnt imagine finding time this season for 10x that amount.

1000 isn’t a magic number. It means the more you play the more flukes get weeded out.

no what it really means is that more games means more times the other team gets screwed by prot pallys to balance all the times you got screwed by prot pallys.

it doesnt mean less prot pallys queued, it just balances your losses cuz of clowns with their losses cuz of clowns.

Off topic question here if I may…is there something innate to the elemental spec that allows them to take in/absorb a lot of damage before they get into trouble?

There’s Nature’s Guardian, which gives them some extra health (on a relatively long CD) when they’re reduced below…35%, I think? Extra health when earth elemental is out (conduit), 40% reduced damage for 12s on a 90s cd (shift) and…that’s kind of it, I think?

Earth Shield is a bit of tickle healing, alongside Healing Stream, but those are relatively minor.

not really no. we have almost no defensives. Theres Nature’s Gaurdian

Nature’s Guardian : When your health is brought below 35% you instantly heal for 20% of your maxiumum health. Cannot occur more than once every 45seconds.

Then there’s Astral Shift

Shift Partially into the elemental plane taking 40% less damage for 12seconds (1.5minute cd)

Then there’s things like Fleshcraft from necrolord, and Ooz’s Frictionless Coating from the Plague deviser marileth conduit tree.

OH

and also our Earth ele gives us +33% max health while its out, and access to another 40% damage reduction cooldown on a 5minute cd
