Maybe not. If RBGS were another (more fun) way to acquire arena level gear more people might actually participate since their options would no longer be limited to just mindlessly grinding away for untold hours in AV just to finally be able to lose ten games a week until their resilience is finally high enough.
TL;DR adding an additional avenue for obtaining gear might actually make the gearing up process more fun and faster which could increase participation.
As long as Blizzard didn’t do something foolish and foul it all up, of course.

On paper that sounds good, and I’m just totally speculating, but I think even with an increase in total rated pvp you’d likely lose a fair percent of arena participation, especially in the non 2’s bracket (2’s straight up suck and probably will remain giving titles in wrath?!?). Historically in retail it never mattered because the pool is so large. I could be totally wrong tho after all.
I’ve been practicing being more optimistic in general. So far it’s going pretty well I just ignore the disappointment.

I did! I dipped my toes in about a year ago because I had heard some good things about shadowlands. Then quickly left and have been enjoying Classic as much as I can.
I would be completely fine with it I mean it gives people another way to get arena points I don’t see what the issue would be that’s completely fine as far as I’m concerned.
Yeah, I personally don’t want them, but I don’t see any harm in it. For probably most of us, Wrath is the “ultimate” WoW experience, and I see no reason why they shouldn’t add features to it as long as it doesn’t significantly harm or change the experience.
I’d be very happy to see Wrath make more people happy within those constraints. 
I am utterly overwhelmed with questions and I don’t even know where to begin… O.o

Yeah RBGs would be a good addition. I dont pvp but more options is always better.
Just as a warning from me to you, I happen to agree with him now and again. I’m also generally someone who doesn’t ere on the side of changing the game without need. Though on this issue, I’m curious to see his reasoning, especially since he didn’t give any explanation.
But for real, I really don’t see downsides to RBGs in Wrath Classic. I haven’t done many of them before, but my impression is that they’re basically just a rated ladder for the battleground system that already exists. The only potential downside I can possibly think of is that the popularity of RBGs might slightly draw players away from arenas and regular battlegrounds. And even that downside has silver linings (maybe regular battlegrounds become slightly less competitive for those of us who just PvP casually when we’re not raiding).
We may disagree often, but my views are informed by my perspective individually, not just by “this side or that side”.

But given how much yall care about server identity, those will be only realm specific, right?
Wrath introduced brand new PvP queue UI to mimic RDF…No one talks about it. Are we going back to flying to Arathi zone to queue for AV in wrath? I mean, it only makes sense on how they replied to RDF thing… Otherwise it seems rather unjust & double standard.

I’d love for Rated BG’s to be available. It’s way funner to have objective game types than just spam arenas all day.
