Raze will sometimes not work

Raze will sometimes not work.

When you press the button the animation and sound effect will play but it wont do damage or cost Rage.

This happened mainly on dungeon bosses. It didnt happen with every boss though.

I did the 5 timewalking dungeons and the weekly dungeon for rep and it happened at least once in every dungeon.

I couldnt get it to not work consistently so dont know what is causing it.

Also, at the start of one dungeon I zoned into the dungeon as a bear and Thrash and Swipe were not working. I shifted out of bear form and back to bear and that fixed that problem.

Range is melee, move closer to your target. Only way i found to fix the issue. Very annoying.

Despite all the complaints, Raze is actually fun and a welcome change.

Edit: Same issue with Thrash not working. Shifting was also my solution.

Uh …yeah …I know that.

When this has happened I can still use Mangle, which is also melee range.

It’s weird, it’s like it has a 1 yard range. You have to stand in the epicenter of a boss model to get it to work.

Main issue is the scaling is horrible. It does around a third the dmg maul generally does.

It does 70% Atkpower, Maul is 119.728%. It’s 58.46% of a Maul in single target. Always better in 2 targets… and literally the reason to use it…

My maul does 23k, raze is doing 8.5k.
Im going based entirely off of the ingame numbers not a website.

Based on your armory page, with 11% mastery, 11% vers and 6506 Agi your non-crit mauls hit for 9597.39. Your Razes hit for 5611.2. Both reduced by armor.

But yes, I experience this too on certain bosses, like Crawth in academy.

Pressing my keybind did nothing while standing in range. But …. If I physically clicked the button in game it would work!?

Plus realistically this is a capstone. We have to put alot alot of talents in to get this ability.
Why does a capstone even really have a downside to it. This should just be an enhancement to maul in general, not some pseudo updowngrade.
No other tanks deal with a design like that. They instead get things that augment their spenders to be better in all situations.

Why does bear have to specifically get a buff nerf talent like this?

It’s 100% better than Maul in any 2+ target situation… Don’t take it in ST. It’s literally 1 point. What’s hard to understand?

All classes deal with AoE versus ST abilities. You’re seeing things that aren’t there. It’s a CHOICE not mandatory.

Raze is currently bugged and is not considered a guardian spell (not in the aura). That is why its doing swipe dmg (~7k) which is like 1/3 of maul atm.

Its not recommended to use atm as maul is just so much better, even in normal aoe.

Raze is actually pretty good with all the TnC, Vicious Cycle, and the shields from Ursoc talents. Don’t know if you can see my build, but I did NO 15 last night. Our first pull was that large pat group, which someone pulled the ballista pack as well. Entire group wiped besides me, i popped all my cds, but Earthwarden/Raze/TnC/Shields kept me up until the group all flew back. I don’t have DoC anymore, but I feel tanky. I’m not saying PWar level tanky, but I was impressed. Especially on fortified.

Raze does have a distance issue which only seems to show up on some bosses. I hope they can fix this quick. It is quite annoying.

Also, this is AOE. It is not going to do more damage than maul. Stop complaining. I’m getting 28-32K crits from Raze. I think it’s going to be Raze for fortified and Pulverize for tyrannical. … Before you criticize, try Pulverize on Crawth. That negates some heavy damage.

Don’t know what you’re doing, but with the proper build i’m getting Raze crits for 23k at like 370ilvl…I think you guys are reaching for something to complain about that isn’t even there. I think you should change your argument to be about the balance tree, at least there you have a leg to stand on.

But why is it even made to be worse in single target. Why is there a buff nerf talent to the worst tank in the game.
What other tank has something like this.

What is the actual reasoning for that, moonfire build does significantly more dmg, tankiness, rage, and requires 0 gcds or rage to play.
That is the problem here aswell, moonfire vs raze.
If they really wanted raze to be in the game it should have gone into the base kit of bear to be a decision in combat of raze or maul.

Play a proper Raze build. Lean hard on the left side of the tree.

Yes, even with all the “proper” Raze talents. Maul is always better atm. Maul is better on everything other then 4+ and its obviously way better on bosses.

Overall its a no-brainer.

Take a step back. Without Raze my maul crits for 65K. If we were doing 65K X5 (or more), that would be OP as heck. Vicious cycle does turn mangle into doing some pretty heavy damage as well.

Raze is a choice. Take it for AOE or don’t. It also applies the TnC debuff which is a lot of DR even if it is only physical currently. Which i betcha they’ll fix.

And do less dmg and be less tanky then a moonfire build.

How about raze does the exact same amount as maul…
That way its not randomly a dps loss in single target for no reason. While also having a horrible hitbox.
