“World of Warcraft RTX”. Thoughts?
Look here you - that’s like trying to modernize an original Ford Model-T with some extra large rims. It’d be laughable and accomplish nothing but ruin a piece of beautiful art
You can’t just flip a switch and add ray tracing, WoW’s old textures don’t have the shaders and normal maps to support those kinds of reflections.
I’d like to see it happen down the road for sure.
I’ve found that a higher resolution and 144hz refresh rate bring new life to vanilla WoW. The game actually looks very good. I’d imagine ray tracing would be even better and a very reasonable idea considering the graphic requirements are so low for vanilla.
That’s pretty much all that ray tracing is good for at the moment, making older or lower polygon count games look really nice.

it would be nice but being built up on old infrastructure and models its not possible as it would cause such a jarring difference it would look bad in comparison to the things around it. ALSO they would have to go through and add a wrath level patch to the game to add rays to the old world since they werent really existent back in Vanilla days.
Why is it so hard to enjoy what we are getting? /sigh

Look what ray tracing did to quake and mindcraft amazing . It just enhances the visuals without distroying the original art work . Emerson in wow vanilla/classic was and will aways be strong. Quality work has a way of standing the test of time . like putting wax on a classic car it just looks better.
