Ravager or Bonebiter?

I just equipped the Ravager but folks have been telling me abouth the “Bonebiter”. Would it be a waist of time to seek it out?

Ravager is a gimmick that works very well for a while, but be ready to vendor it when a better statted item drops.

Well Bonebiter is the SM quest reward, it starts in Desolace and I think you have to be 34? To start it.

The Ravager proc is useful for a time if you are AOE grinding.

I am L37 Paly…With that being said, should I just use the Ravager until the next weap of choice drops or go ahead an do the quest line and go get the Bonebiter?

It’s up to you, but people get so hung up on ravager being so good that they use it way longer than they should. I would grab the next decent weapon you can find and stick ravager in your bank for running lowbies or whatever.

I’m using and loving Bonebiter, but they’re both great weapons. If the quest chain seems like a chore to you, I wouldn’t bother. If one of the few Scarlet Crusade quests we get appeals to you, I’d 100% go for it.

The only notable stat differences are:

  • 40 atk pwr and 100 health
    vs
  • The fun aoe proc

Ravager is great when you get it. Replace it in Uldaman tho.

Ravager is downright amazing for any class lacking aoe in dungeons. Solo play though there’s a ton of better options including bone biter. I will say as an enhancement shaman ravager almost tripled my dps in dungeons but frankly it’s nothing but annoying when I’m questing. I couldn’t pull 3 mobs as a enhancement shaman and expect to live in my 30s/40s,even with ravager. So the procs were just kind of useless on 1v1.

For warriors, I say ravager because Bonebiter is a quest reward that also gives Sword of Serenity, which is the best tanking item at that time. As a paladin, you’ll have the same choice, but IDK if you like tanking. that’s up to you.

I really don’t understand the crazy love for ravager. I still seen people using it in my Maraudon runs. It’s also cracks me up to see enemy faction warriors trying to pvp with it, got themselves stuck in spinning state and got killed lol.

Warrior gets whirlwind axe so no need for ravager.

Ravager as enhance is pretty damn good largely due to it being able to prpc windfury.

Ravager as a paladin I’m not sure about but if you’re looking to AoE it would be ravager.

As others have noted the proc is nothing but annoying if you don’t want it and that’s where the problem lies with it. If you were min/maxing you’d probably be swapping between it and another.

Ravager is significantly better than Bonebiter in every scenario but single target. And even then, it’s not that far behind.

Ravager all the way. It can last through your 50s. It even outclasses most pre-60 epics.

Whenever you need ravager to NOT proc. That’s when it will.

You have been warned.

To add to what some of the others said, if you are on a PVP server and someone attacks you and you start spinning like a crazed weasel, you’re dead. On top of that, you just gave your killer a free laugh.

If you insist on using it anyway, have a backup weapon on a quick weap swap macro and use it immediately upon being attacked, or see above.

I have both on two different characters (Paladin and Warrior). On the Paladin I swap out for Rockpounder while questing but Ravager all the way in instances. My damage is far higher with it. In instances like ZF on the steps my friends bust out laughing because I become the entire dps chart.

Similar usage for Warrior. Also, I think the Ravager looks far cooler and works better with the fiery splash enchantment you pick up in Badlands. Also I find procs more fun than flat stats.

For paladins I think ravager is all around better if you are ret since the whirlwind effect will proc vengeance on criticals. I use both tho, bone biter for solo lvling and ravager basically any time I’m in a group.
