Yeah, but those are blue and only ilvl 115… you’re forgetting that people are entitled to BiS on week 1.
And this right here is the crux of the argument. It’s true that the average WoW Classic player has less time to dedicate to the game. But the behavior that translates to is what we saw in AV, and that type of behavior has no place in an MMO. That type of behavior belongs in an AFK mobile title, which is a super popular genre now for a reason.
And S1 lasted 20 weeks back in TBC. It “only” takes 10-11 weeks of straight AFK to get a weapon meaning you’re going to get use out of it for almost half the season. If you don’t think most players are going to find that an acceptable ROI, let me direct you once again to what we saw in AV and the lengths people went to to do nothing.
my dude, I know you’re pissed about AV. I am too. However, you are completely missing the point.
Gating items behind a wall that 95% of players won’t be able to reach will cause the arena scene to die. You are saying you’d rather the arena scene die than some people get their weapons slower than others.
If people want to waste 1-2hours a week exclusively losing to acquire a weapon over the course of 3months let them do so. Maybe those leech types will find it acceptable but, in reality they won’t. They saw the AV fiasco of having people carry them with rep/honor as an acceptable reason to AFK while they focus on their base building in Fortnite. There is no one to carry them now meaning that it incentivizes them to attempt win.
If the brackets were what they were before you would have a casual bracket earning points somewhere around 1700 and down. Now with zero chance of acquiring said gear, rating starts at 0, and it being far more time requiring/skill investment everyone casual would rather waste their time in PvE. This change only kills the PvP community. An attempt to make everything an eSports prestige glorifier when they could easily add pets/mounts/reskinned color models/etc.
Literally just make a special set of shoulders differently colored, but with the same stats, and make that the 2200 rating reward.
There, now the people who MUST HAVE their special shoulders can have their special shoulders.
Just make the full set haha. 1800 you get a green tinted set, 2200 red tinted, and 2600 you get black/red tinted. All for for trading in the piece of gear you already have. Easy as heck and the prestige is there.
Too much work for the WoW dev team, especially too much work for the classic dev team.
True, recoloring models is at least 4 months of work for some sweatshop in Indonesia to pull off. We don’t want another Warcraft 3 Reforged.
That’s what I kept trying to tell people…You can earn the previous season’s gear through just PvP and it’s a minor stat upgrade across the board. It’s not the end of the world, and decent play can certainly overcome that barrier.
Only bad players are complaining. Get better and you won’t have to worry about the rating requirement. The ladder is going to be incredibly inflated, although it won’t be anything like retail (it shouldn’t). It’ll still be incredibly easy to get 2.2k.
sure thing. what happens when those “bad players” dont join the pool and youre left with only sweaty players playing meta comps?
Then I’ll have good games? Why’re casual lazy players complaining about something that can be achieved if they put in the effort to learn it and become good at it?
This isn’t Classic anymore, you can’t afk in AV to get p5/p6 viable items.
heh. sure thing.
You play a Warlock, queue Warlock/Druid / Warlock/Priest in S1 and play like a mongoloid. Promise you you’ll get 2k+ unless you’re neuro divergent. TBC is incredibly simple.
The only classes that have any type of decision making are: Rogues, Priests, and Druids. Every other class is so unbelievably straightforward it’s insane.
you forgot shaman which is what ill be playing.
Bad players? Not everyone can dedicate the time investment to be fantastically good at something such as arena. We’re not in Highschool anymore. Maybe you’ve haven’t left your childhood but, a lot of us have. Having bad players acquire gear even if it’s slower is far more preferable than an isolated community from the casual playerbase which will makeup the majority of that playerbase.
It’s why Retail is in a garbage state because not only are people dealing with gear disparity they also have to do perform at that high level of skill in order to play on an even ground. PvE isn’t remotely like PvP as it shows off the ability to kill PvE content and PvErs aren’t using their gear to prevent other PvErs from trying to attain gear. Nor is there a problem with failing in PvE as it means you can just learn it better the second time around. PvP is far more unforgiving and mentally exhausting.
AV Epics != TBC Arena Epics. You can’t AFK in Arena and acquire an amazing epic 2h/1h weapon within the span of 1-2weeks. It will take months and the incentive is to win your games so that timeline is shifted down to a month or a couple of weeks. If there are more players attempting to win the rating becomes inflated and that means good players can achieve 2200 rather than being locked at ~1800 and finally giving up creating another bracket of 2k rated players who will eventually shift downwards. You’re only creating a deflated playerbase for PvP just to prevent some leech not getting a weapon in two months. Kill the game to stop that one dude… brilliant idea.
Oof, well the good news is that we’re well received in raids…
66 spellpower, which the OP left out, is significant at any level of play.
You’re quite mistaken. We can pretty much chalk it up to ignorance on your part.
Did you ever see people in s4 arena gear fight people in s3 gear? OR s3 geared players fight s2? I have. Numerous times. Know what happens? The people in the lower quality gear nearly always lose, and it’s not even close. The only exception is when it’s the top players in the world using inferior gear.
Also, the pve gear tends to be exclusive. So people aren’t just going to get the best pve gear. Only the top % of players in their guild are going to get those items. Unless you’re one of the higher ranking people in your guild, you’re not going to get BIS weapons right away. You may have to wait months.
I’m fully against the rating requirements for season 1 and 2 because they weren’t there in TBC.
That said, all of wrath had rating requirements on gear. Were those seasons dead too?
