Rather than DE, why not offer at cost of Eternal crystals?

Title.

I’ve never understood why people DE over giving up grades to others. I get wanting the eternal crystal. Especially for people who don’t play the AH. I have a max enchanter and yeah it was expensive (I assume. I can’t remember).

However, if you get a drop that would give an eternal crystal (or 2… or whatever the rate is), and it is an upgrade for someone else, rather than DE it, why not offer to trade it at the cost of a few eternal crystals?

Seems like a win win to me. Set the price at 4 eternal crystals. The enchanter gets more eternal crystals than they’d get from DE, the receiver gets the upgrade that is so rare these days.

I think most people would happily pay the cost of 4 eternal crystals if it means they got a ilvl 200 (or more) piece upgrade. That is significantly less than the equivalent cost of a BOE on the AH.

(I get not doing this for a BOE. I’m referring only to tradable BOP’s).

Can’t trade cross-server, which I imagine most pugs will be in.

Crystals aren’t worth that much anymore anyway, I’d personally be more that happy to give up the item to someone who needs it if they ask politely.

Cause they are on a different server and can’t trade me crystals

You mean /whisper “U NEED THAT?” before you’ve even looked at the item yourself, isn’t polite?

Is there a reason you felt this needed another thread instead of just posting in the thread you’re clearly referencing?

Everyone knows its most polite to use a megaphone to scream your demands in people’s faces.

Obviously there is a reason. Otherwise I wouldn’t have done it.

So if it is a pug, I can trade them the loot but they can’t trade me 2k gold in return at the same time?

(I predominantly do content with my guild so I haven’t had to trade with pugs much)

Nope. The only things you can trade to people from different servers are conjured items like healthstones and mage food, or boss loot they are eligible for within the 2 hour window.

Even if it were possible that would set a rough precedent, now i gotta come to pugs with crystals to trade incase gear drops? no more do we roll for gear, its just whoever bid the highest crystal count.

Well that sucks. Explains why people don’t just say “give me the 2k gold” though. I’ve never understood that.

Well that’s my question answered. I’ve always wondered and now I know.

Personally i always offer whatever i loot before i DE. And i only DE in group if its an old gear or drop i got somewhere elese.
