For those of you that defeated the Mage Tower during Legion, you obtained your Challenging Appearances for your respective specializations. And with that, the ability to unlock the other color variations once you had met appropriate criteria.
But the final task has proven to be one that so few of us Legion Tower masters have been able to finish - Win 10 Rated Battlegrounds.
And unfortunately, I can confirm that after winning 10 Rated Battleground Blitz matches, the remaining Challenging Appearance is not granted from doing so.
I’m posting this as a Bug Report because there is currently no confirmation whether this is intended behavior or not.
I quote Linxy from The War Within Beta test forum feedback post:
Rated Battleground Blitz
Rated Battleground Blitz is the rated version of the Battleground Blitz Brawl that came in the Embers of Neltharion content update. It is a solo queue rated 8v8 battleground game mode with an accelerated pace and new mechanics to make the battles faster.
By all accounts, it should count as a rated battleground for the purpose of the Challenging Artifact appearance - for those who beat the Mage Tower during Legion and unlocked the base Challenging appearance.
The bug report is that Rated Battleground Blitz victories do not count toward the Challenging Artifact appearance that requires 10 Rated Battleground wins to unlock. Neither individually with 10 wins, nor combined with any existing Rated Battleground wins does it count for this appearance.

There are a bunch of specs that are unwanted in rated bgs. They have a hard time getting invited onto a team or forming a team, let alone getting 10 wins.
Even if this isn’t a bug, Blizzard should consider adding this for rated battleground blitz.

There’s only been one Rated Battleground queue for the entire timespan of WoW. Rated Battleground Blitz is tracked separately in your Statistics panel from “Rated Battleground wins”. The unlock trigger for the appearance is also a Yes/No check of “Have you won 10 Rated Battlegrounds since unlocking the base appearance” and has no tracking for how many wins you already have, let alone specifying which count.
Rated Battleground Blitz does not count towards to the “In Service of the Alliance/Horde” achievements, which also track Rated Battleground wins, but rating earned from wins does count towards the military rank PvP titles that previously were Rated Battleground queue only.
Something that’s been present far longer in the game than the Legion artifact appearance was updated to accommodate it, but the appearance unlock for those who beat the original tower remains unchanged.
It’s a bug report based on developer stated intentions and changes that were made to existing achievements around it. I’m hopeful it’s an oversight and can be easily corrected, but may require waiting until War Within launch or a future patch - similar to what was required to make Balance of Power account wide.
Mostly looking for developer confirmation on the status of this and we go from there. But no point in wasting time on Rated Battleground Blitz if you want your old Artifact appearances (that your OG Mage Tower toons can still obtain)

I just finished my 10th Rated Battleground Blitz win on an OG mage tower character and was dismayed to discover the same thing.
I really hope they patch it to make them count. I was relieved to think I could finally work on unlocking the 10 RBG wins on my original mage tower chars without the struggle of being selected for premades, but apparently not!
I was also surprised to find that they don’t count for season mount/saddle percentage (above 1000 rating of course).
Fingers crossed they see these posts and change it soon.
They don’t count toward Season mount right now because it’s the Off-season. They should count once Season 1 TWW starts. Your off-season rating DOES count for the military titles from forever ago, but not the artifact appearance is silly

Posting this in these threads since they come up first in searches.
From the Sept. 6 Hotfixes:
Player versus Player
Rated Battleground Blitz now contributes to Legion Artifact appearance progress.

It is good to see that the change has been implemented and that RBG Blitz wins should now contribute to the progress.
A slight disappointment that it is not a retroactive change. Having already won 10 Rated Battleground Blitz matches during prepatch, those did not unlock the appearance when I had logged in today. Being able to finally complete these appearances is what matters most.

I just won some rbg blitz but don’t see any progression towards the artifact skin.
Is there no blue post confirming this hotfix anywhere?
I just won 10 games on two different characters and earned the recolor for both last night.
There is no way to track it outside of a macro. My previous post was taken straight from the patch notes.

which specs and why are they unwanted.
