TLDR; we got her down with 10-stacks of determination after about 90-minutes.
The good new is that players generally only needed 3-4 wipes to get the major mechanics down. The bad news is that players generally only stayed for 2-wipes before bailing. We went through 6 tanks in the second slot.
As a healer, it took me a bit to get the positioning right with splitting groups. That lead to some platform blow-offs and cone-in-the-face melts. At the end, there were 3-alive… mostly because the tank was 410+.
We also had a handful of players go afk that had to eventually be kicked… We kicked around 10 over the course of the run. I think that was their way of avoiding the debuff.
Ouch. I was very sad to see the tank that knew what he was doing leave 2 wipes after I joined (7 for him) but luckily the replacement also seemed to know. Going through that many would be rough.
Eventually even the trash players will get tired of beating their heads against the wall and finally learn mechanics as well as download DBM. The fight is fine and after you’ve done it a couple times is not very complex. I think people are mad because they can’t stack determination and brute force the encounter.
I personally hope it stays the same as the fight is a fun challenge and change of pace to the usual LFR auto attack and win while ignoring mechanics game. I wish they had made Broodlord more difficult as well as not removed mechanics from some of the other encounters. People don’t learn if they don’t have nearly the full encounter. I also don’t understand why ALL of LFR is not released when the other raids go live. It would help teach players before trying to tackle normal mode at least get a taste of the fights.
I’d only seen a quick video and read the adventure journal entry. It took a couple wipes to get acclimated, and then there are the occasional mistakes, but overall I thought it was an interesting fight. I found it WAY easier when I did it as melee DPS… but had the benefit of seeing the fight already.
I felt my fury warrior had an easier time but I figured it was because he has a 25+ilvl advantage over my ele shaman. My warrior took 2 wipes and the raid already had 2 stacks of Determination when I got in and the shaman took 3 wipes. This was on day 1 and I figured as the weeks progress it will get simpler when folks get acclimated to mechanics. It’s really not a hard fight if you just do mechanics.
I watched a 2 minute video and felt pretty comfortable. People just need to put in a small amount of effort that’s all.
I’ve only tried Rasz a couple times on normal and the groups have fallen apart before p2. I hope with LFR giving folks a little insight it’ll make the encounter easier on normal. I intend to pug her this week on normal. Between work and alts I haven’t had time to invest in a full clear.
that’s fine too…the raids will be smoother then as less folks to carry. All it takes is minimal effort to do LFR. Watching a 2 minute video and downloading an addon really simplifies things plus it’s much faster than spending an hour on a boss in LFR of all things.
If it’s so necessary the game should come with it pre-installed, right?
But I’ll never accept an addon as being a requirement. I mean, yeah, I use them because they do feel necessary. But it’s a failure on their design if the game is so depend on external resources. Especially at such a base level.
Quite a few years back I made the mistake of drinking ruby red grapefruit juice after having a large glass of milk. Curdled the milk right in my stomach, which came up in chunks…worst experience ever. Still can’t consume grapefruit to this day.
Imo these were kinda included in such things as remember your groups. Its implied you remember what youre doing while in it XD
But i can see why you might seperate them.
Either way, i found it a much simpler fight than the ice spider one
