Rare alpha class

What if Blizz pulled an SOE and added a rare alpha class to the game… like not just a little op but blatantly op. But it had limited lives… say 3. You’d start out at lvl 1 like all classes but it would still be OP comparative to the other classes. also it would always be flagged for pvp.

What is the “alpha class” from EQ? I think the most recent class added before I quit to play WoW was beastlord.

They already have them in vanilla….

WARior is the pve alpha class

WARlock is the pvp alpha class

You didn’t reallly think it was called “world of WARcraft” because of some petty faction dispute, did you?

Berserker in 2004.

Beastlord was with Luclin and later berserker in Gates of Discord (my last expac playing EQ on the regular).

I guess lock is the alpha class since no one else is mushrooms.

Yeah luclin got beastlord and cat people. I didn’t hate Luclin, but burned out on a demanding raid guild schedule before I got my vex thal key. I remember being confused with all the attunements in PoP.

I’m tempted to play legends, but only if the casual theme park version of eq gets my friend to play. Otherwise I’ll fire up the Iksar necro I made on p1999. Still in field of bone. Since I have zero aspirations to raid I dont mind soloing along. It’s a peaceful life.

so who was phone

I mean which class in EQ was added that you believe was an “alpha class”? BST had some overlap with a couple of classes and stepped on toes as did BER. Which of those did you mean? (tho I’m guessing BST)

I mained ENC so I wreck you all.

We’re getting Kerra not Vah Shir. And no Luclin - yet.

I started in either late Kunark or early Velious. And after a couple abandoned low level characters I settled on Ogre SK.

I skipped/missed out on a lot of the “classic” stuff people have nostalgia for. Once I could somewhat safely take the boat to Kunark I leveled there. Lake of ill omen felt very busy/social back then.

The part I miss is being a complete mmo newb and running into the same people who had similar playtimes every time I progressed to a new zone. I really enjoyed levels 20-50 in Kunark, and honestly can’t remember where I picked up 50-60 at, just that it was a grind.

And the dragoons in Overthere were good training for fel reavers years later.

Field of Bone and Kurn’s Tower - good times. EQL already has Iksar but no Kunark yet. Lizards start in North Ro I believe. Somewhat easy to get to Befallen which has been revamped nicely. As has Blackburrow.

Like its sorta jokey nickname: Lake of Ill Manners. Kiters gotta kite.

Those were the days. C+ might bring a small flicker of that back. I want to be optimistic.

Yeah. EQ gave me a big advantage when 2004 WoW came out. I was still a total newb, but less so than the majority.

This guy understands it.

3 strongest classes in WoW are Warrior, Warlock and Mage, and the rest are just support classes for them.

Only dummies on the alliance cry about shamans and only dummies on the horde cry about paladins, these people generally dont comprehend why Warlocks and Warriors are BiS.

When I was referring to SOE I was talking about SWG

Well in that case I’d put mages and warlocks at the top since they don’t even need support, if we are talking pvp. A bis warrior will chew through people (provided they have uptime) but eventually run out of health. Warlock and Mage cc + damage is basically like they are playing in a later expansion vs us commoners.

A warrior with a paladin babysitter is an abomination.

Speaking of pvp, how have the AB games been this weekend? I’ve been working a lot of OT and haven’t been playing.

For certain, Mage, Lock and Warrior are on a whole different plane of existence in PvP, but Lock and Mage are the S-Tier of the S-Tier.
