Rapid Fire sometimes casts but not firing

for the past week or so now i have noticed Rapid Fire sometimes casts but does not fire any shots.

if there was not line of sight it would not even cast.

i have heard some people saying their spells arent casting right all the time either.

anyone else notice anything similar with theirs?

ya I had this happen to me today while doing bgs. I pressed rapid fire, and it showed the cast was being channeled on my castbar but it did no damage and no animation showed. I assumed that it’s a bug. MM is just painful atm.

yes i was facing the target…

just happened again… 2 casts worked, but 1 did not (and another 1 was dodged).

lost that round cause it didnt go off when they were low enough to kill them. by the next gcd they were across the map and healing.

[EDIT] same round, but for the Rapid Fire cast that did at least start. 2 casts but only 6 hits. i might have just died during that channel.

Channeled spells can be interrupted by activating a trinket and other off-GCD items. Are you sure you don’t have a macro that isn’t triggering something like that?

yes all i pressed was rapid fire at that moment, and waited before pressing another button, expecting it to be channeling.

Did they outrange you?

I have had this happen while they were in range and i was facing them. Happened in arena last week

no, they were right in front of me, probably 15 yards (Tigers Peak just on the edge of the circular platform on the outside).

i saw no reason for it to stop casting at that time, hence taking the screenshot after the round, wondering wtf…

but thank you for the suggestions, might be something idk about.

Rapidfire just functions like that, if you even slightly turn away from your target it will continue casting and doing the animation but won’t actually shoot any projectiles.

That’s one of the reasons a good amount of people want Rapidfire removed. Clunky ability, that could be replaced with any other non channeled shot (Windburst,Powershot,etc).

that is not what happened.

FYI i have not seen it happen since maintenance on Tues.

but i also stopped playing a lot when they removed unrated solo. not into being nerfed over and over and over and left fighting broken classes just to lose.

YES! I have had this happen multiple times as well! mostly in arenas.

this is still happening, but i cannot narrow down a certain reason.

various things can cause it to stop casting mid channel, but why will it just not shoot anything some of the time?

it is most noticable during my /castsequence [nochanneling:Rapid Fire] macro.

If demon hunter uses blur/darkness whatever that ability that makes you miss all your shots or rogue uses evasion or anything like that the rapid fire will just stop shooting.

It looks like you went up against a Demon hunter, i find in arena when they use there defensives rapid fire just fails to fire, must be something about one of there defensives or maybe its the untargable defensive they have, forgot the name but it makes them purple and un damagable.

It is intended.

Had this happen multiple times while channeling on multiple classes.

In thought it was only Mind Flay/Sear on my Priest. Multiple channels across classes will sometimes not animate, no damage but the cast bar and audio for the channel is going.

I find on my priest if I clip the GCD just right I can mind Flay repeatedly on a target dummy or player without damage or animation until I break the channel and short reset for a split second then start channeling again.

I should switch to MM and test a macro with timing to see if I can replicate this on my Hunter.
