FF14 has a built in option for stuff like this. Runescape has a option called hide entity in Runelite and you can hide any element you want. Ect ect. I need a addon just to mute a mount sound… I feel like there lacking is some parts of the game. But It can’t be bland and you could maybe turn down your ground clutter slider and you E detail level and that helps me.
I got some really thick spec’s I gotta wear for this trashcan of eye’s I was gifted by my parents. I try to find other ways to deal with it in games. Like Weakaura’s, Modded settings in the files (Like /console ect) . Ect. Just to keep my eye’s able to keep up with what’s going on.
Not gonna lie. Don’t really gotta do this as much or near as much for classic. or Even classic cata at this point.
I don’t see the fights that way. There are color blind options that might help you. Turn down your spell effects to essential. It also helps the load on the CPU.
However, personally I’d prefer an even more granular solution … one where I can make global settings like the one you’ve just mentioned and an “expert” version where I can quite literally deactivate on a “per spell” level (including my own spells) … but that would be a nightmare for Blizzard devs in terms of maintenance and they clearly no longer like having players such fine control over their experience as evidenced by the removal of many previously available settings not just on GUI level but in general (the “show character achievements per character only” setting being the most recent one).
Not just raiding…holy crap. I guess its my fault that I used to have all the details turned down, and now its all set to max, but even in TW dungeons I was noticing there was just way too much going on so I couldnt see if I was standing in something or not a few times. Need to turn the settings back down, I suppose
The new visuals are definitely better than what we’ve had before. Now we can actually see if we’re standing in bad because the animations strictly match the hitboxes.
There’s definitely an argument to mechanics being more complex, sometimes for the sake of it. However, I feel that most encounters have a clear core mechanic and everything else supports it to make the fight interesting. We cant ever go back to vanilla mechanics where you just stand to the side of the dragon and attack it because there wouldn’t be any challenge with how classes are designed now.
The devs have gone on record stating that they design raids with addons in mind, and were thinking of integrating their functions into WoW at some point. Frankly, I’d just prefer they did then reduce the dungeon/raid mechanical complexity, not everyone uses an addon, and designing worse and worse raids just encourages the use of the addons more and more.
RWF is NOT what they should be tuning their raids around, none of us are doing this for an Esport, we do it for fun/cosmetics.
I fully agree. A lot of the game is raw visual noise, and it makes it next to impossible to see sometimes.
Bosses like Stix are just all sorts of effects vomited out and it’s a fight where you need to be real mindful where you’re standing. I have no real way to do this in the middle of such visual vomit and I just try to stay out of the holes and the giant death lasers that pop up. And the giant rockets.
Underpin ?? is another recent example. Sure love the red ground with the red AoE indicators, ALL the red AoE indicators and the Molten Cannons with also the red indicators and the essential red healing potions thrown in between.
That’s why I was confused when they were proposing adding extra animations for Arms abilities. I was just like, “Why? Every encounter is already a rave of visual effects, we don’t need more.”
I hope they tone this down, or a least give the option to, in the future. I’d rather keep track of what I’m doing instead of struggling to see a small goblin in a flash of thermonuclear effects.
Many players want visual clarity, saying that floor effects were too blended into the ground, so they came out with the new, brighter, louder floor effects.
Many players want the fights to return to clear telegraphing that doesn’t depend on add-ons announcing the boss abilities, so they came out with the new, brighter, louder sound effects/boss lines and more floor effects.
Many players want updated spell animations, and they compare WoW to games with a much more florid, embellished and “exciting” animation style.
How to balance the demand for more difficult, more complex original content every raid tier with demands for encounters that are completable without auras or DBM, with demand for visual clarity/less spell clutter. It’s a lot.
I think it’s a lot better right now than it was in previous expansions simply due to the ground clutter and mechanic effects having borders on them that are easier to see.
No more 60% opacity purple swirls on purple flooring.
