What’s it like ranking up with a job and family?
Honestly, VERY easy. I am 35, wife and baby, normal work day. If you are efficient and direct about your plans in game, you have the time.
AV is VERY fast honor. So when you login immediately go into queue. When you logout, restock what you need for next play session and position yourself to queue on next login.
Where most people struggle in the time area is not planning or being efficient with their gametime.
I’m not saying its not challenging because it def can be. But those are the best ways to get it done.

you’ll have to temporarily postpone activities in either ranking, job or family.
Does your company offer PTO? Military leave?

Assuming your on Fresh or SOD its relatively easy to rank up to about rank 11. After that is when it starts to take a significant time, and the time required really jumps as you move into R11+ which are all 400k to 500k weeks. ERA is a bit harder as you really only get the honor on the weekends at this point, so the R11+ become very challenging unless you supplement it with running a lot of sand during the week.
Probably the best thing to do is start with a goal of hitting R6 or so, get ranker, and simply see how your do. You should be able to determine then if its something you can manage or if it will require to much time. If the weeks turn out to be more than you can normally cover, do consider limiting yourself to AV weekend, as that does allow you to generate a lot more honor, but even then expect to put a lot of time in over the weekend.

Also to respond to some of the others, keep in mind, there is no decay anymore. after rank 11 it can take longer, but the initial even 1-4 you can do in a few hours after the family goes to bed.

Taking time off to game sounds nice but I think my wife would be disappointed since I usually try and save up for vacation with the family. I’ll do my best with the time alotted to me.
Well there isn’t decay in the sense there was where you can regret ranks, but you still have to hit the check points, getting 200k in honor when your R13 is worthless, even if you miss a check point by 1000k you lose everything.
When av runs 24/7 its not toooo bad, but its not as easy as some make it sound.
I assume about 10k/hour in AV. That should be a little conservative but I find it to be an OK estimation. Figure that’s about 50 hours in a week to cap. So not 16 hours a day, but definitely not nothing.

in all honesty r14 will be difficult. i dont have a wife or kids but did r14 grind with work in era. u have to ctrl alt delete one of them. take your choice

I managed 13 (ie, including a couple of 500k weeks, so should translate over to 13-14 grind) with wife + kids + job , but gave the wife a heads up in advance that I’d be gaming way too much when i was trying to cap and basically did AV from the moment the kids were in bed until games slowed overnight greatly (ie, the wee hours of the morning). If wife and kids were busy id sneak in a game or two…not GREAT spouse/dadding but didnt have to straight up neglect them

that’s… the calculus that everyone must make for himself.
there is no decay so you don’t have to force yourself to pvp for full 1month on ranking unlock.
you just need to free yourself later and whenever you can, u will rank up 1 by 1 every while.

Aren’t they break points so we have to hit like a 300k minimum a week or it’s all for not?

yeah, if your target is 500k and you hit 499 you wont even progress
