Ranking Does Not Equal PvP

Why does everyone think that “Ranking” has anything to do with PvP?

Ranking never existed to this magnitude. This toxic retail reddit min/max/BiS culture has completely taken over PvP in Classic WoW.

The Classic WoW honor grind was always atrocious, this thread has nothing to do with that.

The entire state of PvP is unplayable. I’m sorry, but premades do not PvP, they win trade. Very rarely do premades play a challenging WSB/AB without rolling over and running to the starting area for their next instant queue.

Let the Rankers have their precious ranks and soon to be obselete gear. I just don’t understand why the entire community that is actually trying to play the game the way it’s intended to play is barred from doing so.

Classic PvP is a lost cause. The honor system will not change. Our best bet is classic TBC, where all the sweaty try hards will mostly be in arenas.

Ranking in vanilla was always metric of pure time playe not pvp skill.

…I arena titles are worth only what you’ll pay for them…same with rated BGs, they can all be bought with gold…

What is your goal with your thread? Of course ranking is PVP. Killing level 20s in Duskwood with a geared 60 is PVP. Camping flightpaths is PVP. Ranking is PVP. It’s pretty hard to rank without PVPing.

No one thinks that ranking is skill-based although I’d argue that when you play so many opponents for so many hours a day you at least gain some skill and getting into the higher end premades requires some level of skill.

Most premades fight it out at least a little bit for bases in AB and for a flag in WSG. Yes, there are some that don’t. It’s not quite win trading though.

The ranking grind isn’t for everyone.

Arenas are great and many are looking forward to them. They also have their own issues and aren’t perfect either.

wut

arena players win trade and dodge liek it’s their job

it’s better to not trade and just have your enemies roll over…

big brain

I came back

Went full carebear mode

Actually having fun now

Because you don’t gain rank from raiding

this.

pretty sure OP can be completely proven false by just taking some ratios of hks of a ranker vs a “PVP’r” - whatever that is defined as.

Team goes vs your pug and doesn’t 5 cap and camp in your base? Yeah they’re probably not a great premade.

The ones that immediately 5 cap you and have the game over in 8 minutes? Those guys probably know what they’re doing. Some might just roll over vs other premades to move on quicker, but the ones that don’t do that probably have the better PvPers.

Rest assured not every premade rolls over for other premades. Many will fight it out and those games are tons of fun, win or lose.

You’ve never played in a premade in your life and you don’t know what win trading is. Good day sir. My premade has never traded a single win. Have we given up fighting drawn out matches when we are tired after playing for 12 hours? Yeah, but thays not win trading.

The only time I would roll over is if I’m playing another premade and they either have two caps on us or they have Farm/LM/BS. That is because it isn’t worth it to try to come back from 2-0 as you can be in another game within a minute, and in the case of AB once the other premade has BS and LM it is SUPER hard to win, and even if you were to win you’d have spent 30 minutes trading bases and catching up to the zerg to do so which would make your “victory” actually horrible honor/hour. But most premades will fight until those things happen, because we are mostly facing other premades - if we rolled over every time we faced one we’d never win games.

You’re not retreating, you’re advancing in a different direction!

That’s just defeat by exhaustion. It happens, and it’s actually Horde’s preferred strategy when they lose control of the midfield.
