As far as I can gather, this appears to be a vanilla system without rank decay AND hard caps on honor per week
The apparent cap (at the moment) looks to be 750k. Blizzards claim is 8 weeks from 0-14.
I don’t really see a problem with the implementation, but I feel like caps could be based off of pool participation. 750k on som I was hitting on friday, idk.
They need to add some underlying metrics based on population and player pool I think,
Im not suggesting this to gatekeep, im suggesting this so when honor releases it isnt free gear.
but again this is the first day and i only played in a prem form 15-20 games
I would be rank 14 mid bwl unless uinderlying conditions
They said they 8 weeks at max honor to R14 was the current state on PTR. Hopefully they change it to something like 8 to R11 and another 3-4 weeks to R14.
Anyway, I thought the changes would be way worse. Still, I think this new system sounds kind of boring. I’ll keep taking a break from Era, it doesn’t motivate me to come back. Maybe I’ll still test tomorrow. I don’t know. Something came up but I’ll probably still do the blue brawl if I can anyway.
However (based on the wording), I like that it doesn’t take away from premading which will still be more efficient. So, depending on what happens with the next season (or fresh) I’ll still play then. I doubt the drama will be nearly as rich though but my core concern was being able to play with my PVP buddies. So whatever. I would not have come back otherwise.
They say it can to a point. Say for example you’re 40% into R13 stop playing a while you will always be 13, but according to them (assuming I read it correctly) can over time decay to 0% R13
Ultimately a lot of the changes are rather player friendly. The grind exists but it doesn’t essentially lock people out who don’t live in a basement or bot to honor trade up in ranks.
It removes a rigid static system and opens up more based on who is in the bracket and whether those people are hitting a certain honor criteria. Much less fighting each other to jockey for rank and more just a flat grind to move forward.
As a former GM vanilla and multiple FM’s since I completely approve of these changes. It takes what was an extremely unhealthy system and makes it slightly less unhealthy. Those complaining are just your stereotypical dick-bags, Sadists, and Sociopaths however you folks identify yourselves these days. Whats even better is the removal of the participation metric. The bracket mafia is no more.
all the changes sound good I just hope blizzard didn’t allow this to become too easy. i think some degree of sweatiness being required for pvp gear is a good thing
IMO it’s about as good as we can hope for. I was fully expecting some trash like a currency system. 750k for 8 weeks is a lot of honor and time, so I do expect it to still feel like an accomplishment.
My one change would be maybe turn on decay once you hit 14 or something. Cant have everyone in the army be a general, and it’s kinda corny that tons of ppl will have the title, I liked that it was temporary
To me it comes off as a watered down version of the existing system. Take my opinion for what its worth, which isnt much Ill be the first to admit, but I hardly see the point in making changes to the system when the goal should have been to change the system.
Maybe they wanted to stick to the old system as closely as possible for the ‘museum piece’ thing, I dunno. Its better than nothing I suppose. There are some positives there for sure but I feel like if you were going to make changes you might as well have gone fully prolific with them and go with something “new”.
