With fresh servers launching, era is going to take a population hit. It is what it is. Battlegrounds queues were already pretty inconsistent before this week. I fear they will be nonexistent for the foreseeable future.
Ranking requires 418k honor at minimum. And 500k cap to do so efficiently. Reaching these benchmarks, without consistent battleground queues, is borderline impossible.
I’m not sure exactly what the best solution is, but something needs to be done - because ranking is essentially impossible right now. And I don’t believe giving up on ranking in Era, indefinitely, until and if consistent battlegrounds queues return, is the right answer.

Its new fresh hype. It will die down and Era will level out. The new honor system doesn’t have decay so just ride it out for a few weeks.

You think the best choice is to just have all era ranking put on hold indefinitely? That seems like a poor option to me. There’s no telling how long (if ever?) Queues will return to a state that allows for reasonable ranking. Also telling people “don’t rank for now” just sucks lol.
Sadly i think the answer is to just take a break. People will come back to Era eventually… probably after a few weeks.
But this still raises a good question. The current ranking system is contingent on a set minimim number of people participating. If we don’t get that minimum, the system kinda falls apart, and it becomes basically impossible to rank at all.
I don’t know what the solution is, but it’s a good flag.

Hence why the original system was so much better to account for an ever changing population… sure maybe a little degenerate at times but effective nonetheless
This might get some push back - but why not both systems? An either/or type?

Pretty sure you can always get the 500k each AV weekend regardless of what new servers release.
Not if the player base is reduced and you’re on the lesser faction with possibly incredibly long queues.
How bad has it been in the last few days? I was going to hit 51 probably tonight and try to mooch an AV win for bloodseeker.
I checked earlier for funsies and there were a couple WSG and an AV or two up so you should still be good for an AV win
Definitely significantly reduced participation. Slow to pop in the morning, and only one AV at any given time. I do not have high hopes for tomorrow or through the weekend unfortunately.
With SoD (that is likely a bigger game in respect to initial bump) we lost maybe 15% of the players on WMC.
Not even kidding, not much changed other than the players who buy gold left, and the AV meta dried up and we got back to WSG meta.
WSG meta is basically back now, and I am LOVING IT, playing now 3 different characters in the WSG and having GREAT FUN!
How to rank in WSG?
Build a premade, and Zug zug zug! Get it over with fast by WINNING and playing like a team and NEVER EVER QUIT, you must fight every game out to the last possible second and win!

Unfortunately, most people aren’t enjoying the game the way that you are. Most people want to play in the fresh start. And unfortunately when you are an extreme minority in a game that requires lots of people, this is what happens. It isn’t up to blizzard to solve it either. People just want to play the fresh more than they want to play the stale.
Yeah I figure a lot of people are going to play similar to my plan. (Aside from the people that zug to 60 by Monday). Play fresh til the levels start being a slog. Then it will be a mix as I lean into only playing rested. That is unless fresh is really fun being able to find groups instantly.
