Im ranking at the moment and my original goal was rank 11 for the mount. But im indescisive now about just going for rank 13 or just getting the warrior tier 2.5 set from aq40. How do these sets compare for tanking? And which avenue should i follow?
go 12 for the pants, they are bis for a long time.

Imo. The rank 13 gear cause the intercept set bonus is priceless for pvp. But if you are looking at it from a pve standpoint then just do the 2.5. Not worth the trouble of ranking up

my guild is a bunch of dadcore sort-of-casuals and they killed c’thun on week 1

Are the legs really worth the 12 hours a day grinding BG’s? Sure they’re BiS, but I personally would just go T2.5. The gear is just not worth the grind imo.

Time investment at this point? Nah.
As the OT, I’ll end up with one of the first couple of pairs. Lockdowns didn’t affect my work, and I’ll only have free time beginning in September, but now the grind isn’t worth it for me, since we’ll have AQ on farm before then.
Don’t stop at 13 go to 14.

Get r12 for pvp if you really care about endgame PVP. The gloves/pants/boots are basically PVP BIS for the rest of the game (due to the glove -3 rage to hamstring + the 2 set and 3 set bonuses for maximum survivability and -5 sec on intercept) as well as maximizing PVP DPS + survivability.
Your other 3 pieces will be T2.5 helm/shoulders/chest.
As far as tanking goes, the r12-13 pieces are replaceable but the pants/boots (both from R12) are a nice 2 set to wear for maximum stam and good threat. I’d probably wear those (though I’m not a tank, just offtank) and then you won’t upgrade them other than T3.
R13 is all replaceable so there’s no point to getting it unless you want R14 weapons.

You don’t need r13 for the bonus; the bonus on epic PVP gear is on the 3 set (which you obtain at r12) unlike the blue PVP gear where it’s on the 4 set.
He just needs r12 imo.
rank 14 for war are for the dual wielding Cleaver or dagger with Aged Core glove
about the gear pve you are alright with rank 12 you will have 3 piece general with 3 piece Conqueror’s using Dark Edge or Ashkandi for arm , for dual wielding Crul’shorukh with Blessed Qiraji good luck

Yeah and I’d forgotten about r14 healing maces if OP has a high end flask set.
All those warriors with 700+ healing sets are using 2 R14 healing maces to pull that trick off.
But still, the goal should be either R12 or R14 at this point depending on OP’s goals.

i got r13 last week knowing full well as the guilds MT id get prio on t2.5, but having r13 will help the guild get to it, but it in any case the difference between the 2 is simply min/max
me having r13 gear just lets me pass on gear to my OTs and DPS warriors as having t2.5 as a r13 warrior will add nothing to the raid

It’s up for debate imo, but the most ranker gear I’d wear once t2.5 is an option for you is Helm+Shoulders, and it’s really only the 2 set +20 stam thats making me consider them.
