I think that the mythic+ rank 1 title should be rewarded to the top .1% of each spec, instead of overall. This would encourage more off meta spec play and less fotm rerolling.

It would actually lead to the same people getting the titles, just on alts.
“Hey, play your off meta spec while the other 4 pump so boost your score for the title.”
It wouldn’t work as well as you think at first glance.

The one main thing that would throw a wrench into this idea is spec swappers.
What if one of the usual contenders for this season was a warlock that swapped between Demonology and Destro? Since Demo is a popular spec, while Destro isn’t, could they just swap to Destro and take the title despite most of their keys being done as Demo? If it was by majority of keys, would they then have to sort which keys were actually high level, so someone couldn’t cheese this by running a ton of low keys?
If it was split by spec score, like Raider io does, then those who normally would be candidates for the title would lose because of the score split.
No, because you have a rio score per spec. Blizzard would just have to go off that score instead of your overall score. Your last sentence I don’t see as a problem, if you can get high keys on both specs, then you can get high keys on either spec.
I just think it’s an unnecessary hurdle. I don’t think those pushing for the title should have to pay so much attention to which specific spec they’re pushing.
