I"m wanting to roll an alt ranged dps for tww I"m thinking either hunter or warlock. before anyone says anything yes I am taking this toon into tww but I also want an alt thats all dps. need opinions on what to pick
Hunter and Warlock are easy because they have a pet and demon respectively to tank for them.
So, I’m less certain about how classes are going to roll out (or how their mechanics will mesh with the new dungeons) but it really depends on sort of a combination of things for which class/spec you want to go with.
Overall, Warlock will give you more variety of playstyles then hunter given that you want to be ranged and survival is sort of a melee with a lot of reach. That having been said, each of the three specs are going to give you a different style of gameplay ranging from slow and steady affliction to bursty Demonology and Chungus Destruction. As a side benefit, you also have a lot of utility you can bring to your raid/party: Healthstones, soulstones, summons and portals are beloved for a reason.
Hunter for you basically boils down to two approaches: the unimitigated mobility of beastmaster or the chunking damage of Marksmen.
what kind of content are you wanting to do, and how high difficulty level? Raid, dungeons/keys, solo stuff, pvp, a bit of everything?
everything but mythic plus stuff
Hunter if you want something light and easy. Warlock if you want to be invited to raids in spite of how well you perform, and don’t mind being reminded why you’re there.
Both are solid. Just decide if you want the fel spellcaster fantasy or the gun/bow fantasy.
Dh will soon get a ranged spec. I’d just wait for that.
I’d suggest just leveling both up a bit and choosing one.
There are some things you can ask yourself like which class fantasy you prefer. And do you like mail or cloth? Liking your character’s appearance goes a long way to wanting to play them.
Uh ok but what about…
Oh ok nevermind
I would go hunter based on:
Warlock even with the pet is not an easy class to learn. Hunter is definitely easier and more like a Arcane mage play style
Hunters are simpler with rotation, so are easy to pick up.
Warlocks are more involved rotation-wise but give you more to do.
As someone with both I love hunter better
how’s that? where can I read up on this?
riiiiight, just as soon as Illidan comes back from the store with that milk.
they arent, it’s a meme.
I don’t recommend hunter, they are easy to use and deal big damage but if you lift a rock you will find on million hunter beneath it!
Warlock on the other hand are wanted for their ability to summon.
If everyone keeps saying it, it’ll eventually happen
lock if you want to provide something for the raid (stones, res, gates etc) , hunter if you just want to AFK.
always preferred hunter but warlock will always be on a better spot
My main in DF is a Demo Lock. Love the aesthetics of Warlock, especially Demo. As of now, Destro and Demo are obviously decent choices for all content. Destro kinda outshines Demo right now in both M+ and Raid. Going into TWW, again, both Demo and Destro changes are looking pretty good.
However, don’t count out Hunters. Hunters are still a solid choice for not only having a pet by your side, easy for leveling and questing (same for Warlock), the recent changes to BM Hunter looks very promising. While BM Hunter don’t have the goodies that a Warlock can bring to a raid, they’re still pretty good for both AoE and single-target builds when you need to talent swap btwn both. BM Hunters are also exceptional in M+ as well. The main drawback for Hunters for the most part is survivability. Sure, BM Hunters have Exhilarate, Survival of the Fittest and Aspect of the Turtle and Feint Death for defensives, however, we’re still kinda squishy meaning, when we get hit, you actually feel it from your HP bar. Personally, maining either Warlock or Hunter going into TWW are both solid choices. Feel comfortable what you feel YOU should go into TWW with, we’re just here to give you a bit of more confidence in choosing your TWW toon! Good luck!
