In wanting to play a class that has a ranged spec and a melee spec for raids and groups so that when I get tired of one I can switch to the other. And I know that means Druid’s , shamans, and hunters. But I also plan on starting battlegrounds and this is where I’m not sure which one to go with, what are some opinions on these classes as far as PVP goes?
I would say it depends on what you want to do in battlegrounds? PvP arenas is a whole nother animal I’m starting to find out and if that’s what you’re wanting to do you might as well pick a meta. But for battlegrounds, learning to play the objective is better than any class.
I’d say play what you enjoy, shamans are pretty fun and are all around good for group content. Plus it’s the current healer meta, not that you should pick it because of that but it’s a perk. It’s really going to come down to if you like how the class plays, “rotation”, and how it feels just running around in the world.
Just speaking from personal experiences, I’d rule out Shaman because their performance is the most sporadic of the three. Sometimes Ele is a 1-shot God but a lot of times it isn’t. Same can be said for Enhancement.
Hunter is solid. Usually either BM or MM are top-tier specs, both are easily learned but satisfying to play. They’re good jack-of-all-trades in terms of their role.
They can defend bases, ninja bases, team fight, focus down enemy healers, flag-run in a pinch.
SV is a spec that seems to live and die by the numbers. If they’re strong they’re oppressive and popular, otherwise they’re non-existent. It’s a decently fun spec, I don’t play it myself though.
Druid is a class I love for some reasons and hate for other reasons.
Boomie is an amazing “Damage Done” spec.
Feral is honestly one of the most fun PVP specs in the game. Bleeds. Stuns. Stealth. Big combo-point spenders. Super mobile.
If you prefer Ranged I’d say go Hunter.
If you prefer melee I’d say go Druid.
If you like them 50/50 then… go Hunter too. Feral is better than SV but MM & BM are a lot better than Boomie (again, just personal opinion ) and you have 2 ranged to choose from, not just 1.
If you like being a sneaky class, I would say druid. Druids can pick when to enter a fray and when running away, can also drop combat and become stealthed again.
Sure people can have the addon that lets you see if someone is stealthed, but you get to select when to engage.
