Range switch

Hello gamers, I’ve been playing Melee forever, never played a range class. Thinking of switching to range to see if it helps with mechanics and if I can perform better, that being said I do a lot of raids and M+, which class would you guys suggest me try and switch to for range

Mage and Warlock are both solid picks. Mage is easier to pick up and a great all rounder, has mobility you’d expect from being a melee player. Warlock is a bit more complex than mage but forces you to really turret in locations. The tankiness of lock makes up for its lack of mobility.

Hunter was the first ranged dps I really enjoyed the most early on. It has qualities of melee dps, being able to move and attack just as melee can. While having properties of ranged. So I’d recommend those three.

BM hunter would feel the most familiar to you, since it can perform all its attacks on the move, with the added bonus of being ranged.

Do any of the range class themes speak to you?

Pick something that you think is cool, try it out, and see if you like it.

I would go evoker.

Their range is shorter than other ranged classes so it might feel less weird to you.

I can highly recommend frost mage at the moment. I couldn’t tell you anything about how it’s performing compared to other dps, but good golly it is a lot of fun! Still lots of procs, which I love. But at the same time more up front control! And we got frostbite back (chance to randomly freeze enemies in place)!

Agree.

Disagree.

@OP I suggest doing the class trials I on both.

It’s the worst of the three atm.

But it’s number one in fun!

I always have a lot of fun on my Ele Shaman.

I always preferred arcane on my mage.

However having an absolute blast as shadow

Yeah shadow is great as well. I’m stoked to have the mind spike/mind blast tag team back. Although I do wish there was some clear indicator of when I had two mind spike stacks for an instant mind blast. You can get so many procs for instant spells coming up it can be hard to keep track and I’ll find myself actually casting one.

I have been using publiks weakaura pack and enjoying it so far.

Hunter’s probably the easiest to pick up and do well with. BM hunter is in a really good spot rn plus u get cool pets.

Other than that, Shaman can be fun especially if u want to play something that has a melee spec option that is pretty much pressing everything that lights up as u attack crazy fast.

Priest and warlock are arguably a little more complex in terms of rotation. Mage can be good if u get used to the playstyle.

Should try out the new evoker dps spec.

Being a “mid range” ranged dps seems like the perfect transition.

Druid or Shaman always solid picks since they have both melee and ranged.

Yeah, but that’d be kind of like avoiding learning ranged by cheating and playing a ranged melee. :dracthyr_comfy_sip: At the very least play Marksmanship or probably just a caster to develop some wizard fundamentals.

Thank you everyone for the responses!
