After trying my hand at 3 melee DPS and being told I don’t perform well on any of them, should I quit all together or move to a range class and try it out?
I generally find ranged to be more relaxed in PvE, especially Hunter.
Fundamentals carry over to most specs, though, so provided you can tighten things up a bit rotationally I’m sure you’ll have a fine time on most specs.

Perhaps it’s an issue of practice? That 3 different classes you haven’t had time to get good on any one of them.

Melee or range, the main difference is mechanical. Poor performance wont magically become top tier by switching.

Perhaps that could be an issue but how does one get better at a class if he thinks he’s performing well on it?
I would give range a try and see how you like it.
Also get into the discords for the classes you are playing.
Wowhead has a big list of them all.
Talk with others of your class that are doing way better. You may find that just 1 thing was making or breaking your damage / performance and they knew that 1 thing.

Just wait and play an Evoker.
That way, if you suck at it, you can just claim it’s because it’s a new class and everyone’s getting used to it.

Both Marksman and Beast Mastery are pretty easy to run and perform well right now!

i play melee cause ranged makes me think i’m gonna get popped like a cheap balloon. though if your taking about dps in pve, yeah… ranged is probably the way to go. less chance of standing in an instant-kill zone.
You can’t expect to perform well in your first moment putting your hands on a class. It comes with practice, i was barely able to do 10’s back in legion/bfa and last season I was timing 25’s keys.
Choose what gives you pleasure playing, aesthetically and mechanic pleasing, then go from there and get better every day. <3

I use my mouse to turn, I have WA, I have keybinds on buttons 1-5 Q,E,X,C, and 6 mouse buttons. I read guides and get KSM every season

which melee did you try?
give outlaw a shot you get extra range from acrobatic strikes (not a whole lot but just enough to feel a lot more comfy)
i think melee is technically easier than ranged. you can interrupt without stopping your current cast, cones are super easy to dodge when youre closer from the source… most raid mechanics are for ranged while melee generally only has to worry about nasty floor telegraphs.
