I am tired of seeing range sometimes 2 inches away from the boss and I know sometimes we must huddle to soak damage and make it easier for healers but aside from that could range please stay range please???
Well, if still 2 inches away from the boss, still is range. Has to be 0 to be Melee.
Plus, sometimes, range has to also stack with the melee, and sometimes, tanks even bring the boss over to the range.
I see that disco ball of spell animations and I want in!
This is a really weird take honestly, mainly because what does it matter really? I’d much rather have a ranged class in melee with me if there is no reason why they couldn’t be (sacrificing damage, making mechanics harder, etc.).
and if new to the boss…they can work out of they do fun things with ranged at range.
See SL Ner’zhul. See…a couple ranged dps thrown off the ledge lol. I got closer to him. It let me get a few knockbacks in before I walked up again.

In M+ its often better for range to be near the group. Not right on top of the melee, sure. But close is good.
In how the mechanics are now yes I agree with you but true mechanics range should not be allowed to suffer as such. I am just saying let range be range!
So are you griping about the ranged players being near melee in the current content, or griping about the current content being better for ranged to stay near? Cuz your OP comes off as griping about the players and wanting them to get away from melee in the current content.
Yeah, I was going to say you can’t blame players for developers encounter mechanics. Everyone moves in, alright now, everyone moves out, okay, everyone moves on back in. Meanwhile ranged players are sitting there thinking “damn I play ranged for a reason, and it isn’t so I can go climb into the bosses behind”.
But, on the other hand, how else can ranged players /hold melee players hands if we can’t move in close to them?
I am just saying over all be it in LFG or LFR or Mythic. I know I know some BOSS mechanics you just have to be near but truthfully range should really just be range.
The other post yeah I suffer and was knocked off the ledge as well but range should not suffer just because they are range.

My preservation evoker says, “Yes, please. Ranged stay in close!”
They should just make soak mechanics come in pairs - one next to the boss and one 30 yards away.
Funny thing is, Healers complain when Ranged do stand back.
Also, there are some funnel attack mechanics that are easier to avoid if you stand closer to the boss (Healers tend to appreciate that!)
Maybe they’re just wanting to get a bit of that wetness that resto shaman brings. Don’t they do better when folks stack?
I will shove my fireballs up the boss’ nose and there’s nothing you can do about it
In M+ being in melee lets me do cc like incap roar and typhoon and interrupt and do cat spells to DPS better
I would be range full time if my spec was designed that way though
As a ranged, the only time I dont stay near melee is when I have an evoker healer.
