Hello I wanted to ask as I can’t find much about it but are the Rangari an institution that the Draenei had in the Main Timeline and still use today or are they only something that existed on AU Draenor?
Rangari existed in the MU too, but the Genocide of the Draenei seems to have effectively destroyed the organisation, with the status of MU Naielle unknown.
In the MU, the Rangari served as the draenei’s explorers and scouts. Velen’s close friend, Restelaan, was a Rangari himself, and the order existed until the time of the Genocide.

Chronicle Vol. 2 mentions the formation of the Rangari shortly after the Genedar’s crash-landing for the purpose of scouting and mapping their new home, so that much is shared by both realities. Moreover it describes the Rangari leader, Naielle, being the first anointed Exarch when Velen created the Council of Exarchs to govern day-to-day draenei society in his stead.
It’s not clear if the Rangari endured in any way among the MU draenei like the Vindicators, or if they were exterminated by the Horde. Partly because while the modern draenei still have Exarchs around, they haven’t been fleshed out insofar as what facets of their society the current-day Exarchs would each respectively be in charge of. It’s possible the player and NPC draenei hunters represent the Rangari still operating in some fashion (or operating again after being rebuilt), but it’s never actually been stated as such.
Really all of the draenei groups we met in AU Draenor are kind of a mess to reconcile in the MU right now, because the whole nature of the Exarchs and their associated organizations is a creation of WoD and Chronicle, and the only modern-day MU draenei material we have dealing with them is stuff from way back in TBC, where Exarchs’ portrayal was as something far more mundane to draenei society than what they later turned out to be.

My research has led me to some Rangari scouts and Rangari Paalu who are v apparently dead somewhere in Zul’dazar.
Anyone know more about this? I think it’s WQ related…

Is the quest they’re tied to. It’s part of the quest chain with Hemet Nesingwary where his hunters are being killed off.

Even if the organization is defunct in MU, it’s possible that individuals would still use the term to describe their profession and skillset.

It’s Ranger Paalu, not Rangari Paalu. I don’t know if it was originally Rangari or just a common misunderstanding. But that Wowpedia info is out of date.
As for the Rangari Scouts, I don’t think those made it out of beta.

Rangari, Ranger, I’m pretty sure they are two words for the same thing. Blizzard didn’t create the former term until Warlords of Draenor.
