Now, before I get into the major game breaking issue here, I know there are other sources to find names, such as that random fantasy generator website, as well as looking into the real world culture that the race is based on, such as Scottish for dwarves, Native American for Tauren, old English for kul tiran/gilneas etc. That’s not the issue.
What is issue IS is the randomize name button.
Tell me how dirtbirt sounds remotely trollish.

Those are only some of the names I got from clicking the randomize button a couple dozen times.
I used that thing once like 15 years ago and ended up with a night elf druid named darlin on an rp server. that was the end of me using the name generator, playing alliance, and even looking at an RP server again. I was whispered to “cyber” so many times I ran out of ignore list space by level 3. Some things worth doing, are worth doing yourself! This is one of them.
You’re assuming the name generator takes into account your race? Do you have any reason to believe that to be the case? I’ve never looked up info or been told anything about the name generator.
Finding a name I like is the only part about making a character that decides if it makes it to max level

The funniest thing is, I’m sure you’re not lying. But it’s a pretty hilarious story to be able to tell.
I used the random name generator once. I was clicking through it to see if any of the random names gave me ideas for a good name. Then I hit on one name I looked at which I just really liked… I didn’t want a random name though, so I kept going, but I just thought about it again and again. Finally, I put it back in and kept it. That is still my only character named with the random generator, but in a way it’s also a little fun because if you look the name up in armory, she is the ONLY character which shows up. All my other characters, you get pages when you feed in their names.

Out of curiosity, I had to try this when I read it. DAMN. You’re telling the truth!! That’s awesome!
I have to think about my toons, and when out of creativity you end with some lame names… like for example 2 of my toons have the exact same name but with the letters reversed, and my HM Tauren is a blatant ripoff of Mayla Highmountain.
I’ve noticed the name generator is running out of ideas. Most of the ones it gives are unpronouncable jumbles of extra letters. Low population servers aren’t quite as bad but I haven’t been able to rely on the generator for my last 3 or 4 characters.
I found it interesting the EU didn’t have this feature.
I use baby name websites I recently made 5 new characters on a Latin America realm and wanted some Latin American names and I’m pretty happy with what was available.
All my other characters, you get pages when you feed in their names.
