Randomize hearthstone button

Will all the QOL changes and such coming to 9.1.5 how about a button similar to randomize favorite mounts that could randomize which hearthstone toy is used. We now have so many different ones it would be fun to be able to use them randomely, even if its the entire pool of them rather than favorited ones.

Thoughts?

I agree.
I would also love to see a unique animation added to Tome of Town Portal. Why is this not a diablo inspired portal animation?! Missed opportunities here.

I guess it would be better if Blizzard baked it in, but there are already multiple addons that do exactly this.

sounds fun but i dont know if its just me
my hearth back to garrison in wod almost ALWAYS disconnects me has been doing it for years, i just get what i need from wod and never hearth back to garrison
wasnt there a scroll in inscription that would randomly teleport you to places?

edit :: i totally missed that “toy” part, i thought you were talking hearthstones lol :rofl:

Hmm didnt realize there were addons in place that would select a random hearthstone toy. Thanks for that info.

But it would be better if Blizz did bake in probably.

You can also use /castrandom in a macro. Write the macro like this:

#showtooltip
/castrandom Hearthstone, The Innkeeper’s Daughter, Headless Horseman’s Hearthstone, Eternal Traveler’s Hearthstone

Macros can have up to 250 characters, so you are limited, but something like that should give you more variety. Just the ones I have listed with your own.

The important parts of the macro are the /castrandom, the spelling (you can also use item IDs), and the commas. You can select any icon and name for the macro itself, but if you keep the “?” icon, the #showooltip part will use the first item’s icon in the sequence. In the case of a /castrandom, that’s always the first one.

Edit: You can also add any other items to this that you want. The Dalaran ring, the Org/SW cloaks, etc. Just note, if you use an item that you must equip first, you’ll have to double click the macro. Once to equip, the second to activate. Just don’t forget to re-equip your regular gear afterwards.

When I saw the title, I thought this was going to be a thread about randomizing where your hearth sends you. LOL

I wish items and abilities has a number, like on Wowhead, so we could save macro room. Like it’d be

#showtooltip
/castrandom 6948, 64488, 163045, 172179

or something like that. Dare to dream, I guess.

Certainly would be amusing to have an item like that say on 1hr cd.

Druids have one! :smiley:

The two I’m most familiar with are RandomHearthstone and Random Hearthstone Toy. I prefer RandomHearthstone because it has modifiers for the Garrison and Dalaran stones. You can also specify which of your stones it can pick from.

They both basically make a nameless macro for you in much the same way Lustrois says you can write your own, just with less steps and they’re easier to modify.

None of those are Quality of Life changes.

They are all make-the-game-faster-simpler-and-easier-because-I-have-the-brain-power-and-attention-span-of-a-gnat changes.

Please don’t use serious RL terms to describe and promote silly, selfish desires. It’s witless.

Yeah, that should be a priority. Never mind the bugs, phasing issues, screwed up rewards due to the level squish, breaking animations in Icecrown Citadel and the Argent Tournament and all the other serious game issues.

No, lets worry about randomizing the cosmetic of our hearthstones.

Thread was not what I was expecting.

I was expecting an option to have your hearthstone port you to any random innkeeper in the game.

Which would be awesome/fun/horrifying.

Don’t toys have ID codes? I know mounts do.

No need to be so rude about it. Honestly how about you simply don’t post next time.

They do. Everything that is interactable by players has an item number in game. It’s really easy to find, too. Just lookup the item on WoWHead, and the item number in the URL is the one for in game. For example, Eternal Traveler’s Hearthstone’s item number is 172179. You can add that instead of typing out the actual item. You can also use the slot number of wearable gear for on-use items, like trinkets.

Let’s say you were a troll shaman and wanted to use Bloodlust, your racial ability, and trinkets with one button press. You’d write it like this:

#showtooltip Bloodlust
/cast Bloodlust
/cast Berserking
/use 13
/use 14

I actually do use this one on my shaman. I added Bloodlust to the #showtooltip line to ensure the BL icon was the one visible at all times. All item slots have a number. Here’s a quick guide to that.

EDIT: Only one trinket will fire at a time. There is a 20 second CD upon using a trinket, then you’re free to use the other one. This macro will fire the first trinket that is available for use, so if your top trinket is on CD, it will fire the second.

Head = 1
Neck = 2
Shoulders = 3
Shirt = 4
Chest = 5
Waist = 6
Legs = 7
Feet = 8
Wrist = 9
Hand = 10
Finger 1 (Top) = 11
Finger 2 (Bottom) = 12
Trinket 1 (Top) = 13
Trinket 2 (Bottom) = 14
Back = 15
Main-hand = 16
Offhand = 17
Tabard = 19

If you have any on-use items, like say a belt or cloak for an Engineer, just use whichever item slot number you need in your macro.

It’s possible to just not say anything. You know that right? This was a very tame humble request.
There is no need for your attitude. Go take a walk.
