I replied to a different thread about this (which turned out to be a two-year-old thread with a few recent replies), but you can also wait for the timer to expire in BfA areas instead of logging out. My flag dropped off properly after five minutes in Dazar’alor.
I haven’t seen any more ghouls in Org after the first time though.
