I’m getting a random PvP flag when zoning into Stormwind

Yeah I am flagged for PVP in Orgrimmar as well. War Mode is definitely off

Same here, and getting flagged while in flight using flight master.

Yep. I also can’t seem to turn it off, either. The timer runs out but I’m still flagged several minutes after the timer ends.

It seems like if you zone into the capital city (Org or SW) while the ghoul event is on, you get autoflagged and it persists after you leave the city.

Ok, so I was just doing a bunch of testing. /PVP and WM on/off don’t matter, the timer will NOT fall off on its own.

You have to leave Stormwind/Orgrimmar, LOG OUT and log back in to lose the flag. If you go back to SW/Org you will get default flagged again due to the event.

so that’s why they shunted all the portals to org/sw. annoys me to be flagged just passing thru the portal room

I replied to a different thread about this (which turned out to be a two-year-old thread with a few recent replies), but you can also wait for the timer to expire in BfA areas instead of logging out. My flag dropped off properly after five minutes in Dazar’alor.

I haven’t seen any more ghouls in Org after the first time though. :frowning:

I recommend setting the BFA inn as your hearth.

at least riding the courtesy dragon to the bottom of Caverns of Time clears the flag, and so far no one camping cheap zone-in kills (yet)

also found out that the flag also clears while in the lesser visions

All my toons I log into are flagged PvP for 5 minutes(or not). Must be a bug with the next phase of the event. Hope it gets fixed soon.

This is not a bug it is just how the code works in a game this old, get used to it. They can not fix it without completely rebuilding the code and making a new game.
This is my reply explaining the issue on another thread:
Ok guys look, I will explain the issue, it is very simple. After I am done you can all quit whining and being scared you are gonna have to PvP in a game called Warcraft.

  1. It is preparation for the event.
  2. The event allows you to become a ghoul and infect/kill other players.
  3. In order to to inflict debuffs/damage another player PvP must be enabled
  4. In order to inflict debuffs/damage on another player of the same faction Free for All PvP (with stipulations like the ghoul buff for ex) must be enabled in the zone. This is a step above regular PvP and anyone entering the zone is automatically flagged.
  5. This allows players from both factions to enter either faction’s city as ghouls to spread the scourge plague.
  6. This also allows for the Horde or Alliance to attempt to kill ghouls before they can spread the infection.

Here is what you can do about it: You can either,

  1. Log off and don’t log back in until shadowlands launches, we won’t miss your whining while we are having fun and you can join the fun when you come back.
  2. Level your garrison which will be immune to the event.
    -Level 3 Command
    -Level 2 Trading post gives you a quest to buy 4 modules off of AH to have an AH in your garrison
    -Level 2 or 3 (I forget) Storehouse gives you Bank Access and Guild Bank Access
    “But Big Daddy, I don’t have enough garrison resources” I hear you say, well fear not you can buy Ogre Caches off the AH as well that give you 1000 Garrison Resources.
    I did my best to make this helpful in giving you knowledge.

For the money we pay we should have been getting new anyway. This game looks like cr@p compared to even old games like Lineage II. Now those people know how to make armor. They make awesome we get…Butterfly wings. I know off topic right, yeah well I don’t care this is my last expansion anyway (terminal) so IDGAF.

Taking a taxi (griffon/bat) has always, (and continues to) clear a pvp flag when you’re not in WM. Leave SW and pick up a taxi in another zone and you will be unflagged. Joining the giant fights with the rares and other flagged people does not reflag you. Going back into city will flag you again. 11 trips to Nathanos have been successful using the taxi method.

I keep getting tagged pvp whenever I take a portal and yesterday when I came out of a cinematic!
WM off, no zombie in sight.

I don’t quite agree with this point. I have had characters that were not flagged, in the Caverns of Time, get attacked and turned into Zombies. Getting turned forces the pvp flag on and makes you hostile to everyone except for other zombies.

Therefore, free-for-all pvp does not have to be in effect for the event.

Getting force-flagged is very annoying.

I hate to burst your pretentious bubble but this auto pvp flagging did not happen with previous expack releases, including the original zombie invasion from the Wrath launch. So this is not an old code issue.

Top 10 worst attitudes in the community. God forbid someone who doesn’t want to do PvP every second of every day be allowed to turn off PvP.

Nothing pretentious about it. And “it didn’t happen in past expansions”.
Your point is moot for two reasons.
The most important part: there was no warmode. There was PvP server and non PvP server, that was it. No coding to workaround.
The second reason is it was the past, no layers and layers of spaghetti code to work around.
As for those complaining they got flagged…big deal, it turns off after 5 minutes on it’s own so by the time you get anywhere near Alliance from a Horde capital city or vise verse, you wouldn’t be flagged anyway. So unless you got turned into a Zombie or Alliance were attacking you wouldn’t have to deal with PvP.
If the Alliance were attacking a Horde capital you had better be fighting anyway, if not go play carebears with the Alliance who the majority spend their time in warmode off unless they are exploiting.
As for being turned into a Zombie, that was the whole point of the preexpansion event. You couldn’t just AFK in Orgrimmar. You are lucky it wasn’t like it was in the Wrath event. It was a lot crazier then, Blizz purposely backed off on the rate and extremeness of the event to not upset the AFK whiners so much. While you guys were complaining about seeing a PvP flag on your nameplate you were missing the whole point, you were vulnerable to the scourge invasion it is PvE. Seriously instead of having fun in the game with the story and the event all you guys did was cry like mewling babies until Blizzard backs off and you ruined the event for the majority of the players.
Lastly if people are really tired of the quality of the game then vote with subscription. Everytime there is a mass exodus of subscribers Blizzard tried something new to improve the game. As for you personally Wicked, I hope for remission but if fate comes knocking I hope you and yours cope and heal and enjoy each other.
