I play on an older PC, and I had managed to temporarily solve this issue by forcing the game to ONLY use Nvidia drivers, but it seems to have sprung back up.
Sometimes, when loading an instance (delves, dungeons, and trial of style have triggered it so far), my memory will shoot up from 4-5 gigs to 8-9 gigs, overloading my RAM sticks and crashing the game. If I notice stutters, I can usually stop this bug by restarting the game, where memory usage will return to normal.
I literally have no clue what could possibly be going on at this point, it’s been an ongoing issue seemingly since the launch of Undermine. I’m unable to replicate the bug by performing the same sets of actions or loading the same instances, and my addons are all up to date. Anyone have any idea what’s going on here?
Side note, during these memory leaks, no addons show extremely-high memory usage.
Nvidia 1060, 16 gigs of RAM, running the current version of Windows 10, running WoW off HDD. I’m willing to accept I’m underpowered for the game, but it runs fine 90% of the time and I’m trying to figure out why the 10% happens.
I have a similar problem with a similar GPU here, windows 10, new installation on SSD and no addons. Since Undermine, the game spikes to 17GB RAM in any part of the game. My PC can handle it, but I’m 100% certain this is a bug on Blizzard’s side.
Said drive has well over 25% of free space, almost 200 gigs free.
I know HDD’s make the game slow, and I deal with the consequences without complaining normally (usually it’s just 1-3 minute loading screens).
What I’m talking about here is specifically wow using 7-9 gigs of RAM, knocking RAM usage up to 95+%, and crashing my game. I’m willing to accept the HDD is responsible, but if it’s not, I can tolerate every other problem. I’m not loading when this happens, it’s usually a completely-random occurrence when I start certain instances, post-loading.
