Copy the entire WinMTR by typing 4 tildes, hitting enter, then pasting the WinMTR. You can do the same for a DXDiag. It will look similar to the following:
There are latency issues right at your very first hop. Reboot your modem/router. If that doesn’t do the trick, contact your ISP and ask them for assistance as you might need to replace the modem/router.
Try power cycling the router and modem. To do this, turn everything off and unplug them for at least 30 minutes. Then, restart the modem, wait a few minutes and then restart the router. Then test with another WinMTR and see if that might have fixed the issue. If not, then contact your ISP and go from there. Show them the WinMTRs if necessary.
So I contacted the ISP they recommended me to first upgrade and I said that didn’t make any sense as I experience lag even when I’m the only one on.
The weird thing is my brother was playing Fortnite and his ping was 34. Speedtest clocks in at 12-15. My ping on WOW is 110-175 according to ElvUI.
Is there something making my ping high?
The other suggestion another rep suggested was to put the networks back as one. Right now we have two networks. One for 5G and one for 2.4G. Would doing this make a difference?
Wow is not located at the same location as Fortnite so would take a different path to get to the different servers. And no, swapping from 2.4 to 5 would not really do anything as they are both still the same router. Contact your ISP again and ask for a level 2 or 3 tech as they are much more knowledgeable than the phone support they have.
Actually, that can make a difference. 5 ghz generally doesn’t have the range of 2.4, so depending on the layout, that can be a solution. At the same time, there’s a lot more interference on the 2.4 ghz band, so dealing to 5 ghz can sometimes be a solution. It’s an easy thing to test, so it’s worth doing.
It is definitely an ISP issue as it starts with either their equipment or they are throttling you for WoW. It clearly shows that in the WinMTR you posted that it is an ISP issue.
Hey there, just had a technician in and they did a few things. However the guy himself even said if it’s an issue with strictly just WoW (which it is) there’s really nothing he can do.
He stated that if it’s a port that rogers is blocking, Blizzard and Rogers would have to sort that out. He replaced the splitter cable as it was 30 years old he said. Gave us a new modem with WiFi 6 as it’s a bit better. We get better download speed now overall but the issue playing WOW still lingers.
I’m not sure where to go at this point. Any suggestions?
Okay so I think I fixed it. So far I haven’t lagged, yet.
I will update further if I have lag again but after factory resetting my PC I seem to be sitting at a steady 60ms ping.
It may have just been something as simple as a network driver, idk.
