Random favorite mount is poorly implemented

  1. This is the least random thing I’ve ever seen. Good PRNGs should tend to produce a uniform distribution. However, I only ever see the same mounts being selected, over and over again…

  2. In zones without flying (aka The Entire Shadowlands™), “”“flying”"" mounts are not selected, ever. So, my favorite mounts of all my favorite mounts are the Pandaria serpents. How many times have I ride on them since SL launched? 0. Literally zero. Not almost, not close to, not basically zero - no, literally zero.

idk if it’s supported anymore but it still works, I use gogo mount it can do favorites or literally any mount and it knows when you’re in flying zone, underwater, etc. SOMETIMES it screws up with mounting you on ground in flying but it usually gets it right the 2nd time. can keybind it with out putting it on AB too

Use the add on Litemount. It will let you pick favorite mounts by character profile, select if the mount is for ground/fly/water.

@OP: I agree; the default “favorite random mount” ain’t all that great. IMHO I’d not put any further thought into how lacking it is and go get Litemount as the previous poster suggested.

If Blizz decides to improve the default random mount selection, great. If not, by using an addon you won’t need to wait and hope. You can have a good random mount selector right now, today.

Litemount is deeply configurable so you can get exactly what you want (with or without randomness) where you want, when you want it.

You can even adjust the level of “random”; equal randomness across all mounts appropriate for the zone you are in - or you can adjust a level (1-5) per mount that will select it slightly more frequently than others.

There’s a hundred other features that make it great. Drop the default “random mount” like a hot potato and get an addon to make your experience better.
