"Random Enchantment" missing from item tooltips

hello! some friends and i just noticed that the green “<Random Enchantment>” line has gone missing. normally, this line is present on the “base” version of items that will gain a random stat or two when they drop (such as world drops, or various items from the throne of the four winds).

the bug can be seen both in-game and on wowhead. for example:

https://www.wowhead.com/classic/item=8199/battlefield-destroyer
https://www.wowhead.com/item=8199/battlefield-destroyer

the classic page for this item shows “<Random Enchantment>”, and the retail page doesn’t.

as a side note, it doesn’t seem like the enchantments themselves are broken or gone; i just went and moonfire-spammed some random mobs on my druid and looted a “Battlefield Destroyer of the Fireflash.” plus there are a bunch of items with random enchantment suffixes on the AH. so i assume it’s just a tooltip display error.

Aside from the part where blizzard doesn’t run wowhead, wowhead has the stat procs listed when you click the item versions dropdown. Probably not all of the random enchantments, but that’s more a problem on wowhead’s end.

i realize wowhead isn’t owned by blizzard. i’m using it to give an example because it’s accurately reflecting how the tooltip looks. the base tooltip is supposed to include “Random Enchantment,” but doesn’t. plus the wowhead pages suggest that the bug is only on retail, not classic.

the item versions menu isn’t relevant here. the bug only affects the base version of items, e.g. those that don’t have a suffix yet.

I don’t recall that text ever appearing on the “base” version of an item, and it doesn’t appear in classic either.
This is the weapon’s tooltip on classic

…huh. well shoot. i guess it is a wowhead issue then, and i’ve just made a fool of myself.

sorry for being a little terse with you.
