In response to the standard Blizzard “please check these things”:

  1. Both Windows and NVIDIA are fully up to date.
  2. I have performed the “Scan and Repair” multiple times.
  3. Disable Background Applications: I am not running anything that wasn’t running prior to the last patch, a few web browser windows, if that.
  4. Run as Administrator: I am the admin of the machine and the game will play, at times for a while without problem.
  5. Adjust In-Game Settings: I have a robust computer/ video card and system settings are no different than before the most recent patch.
  6. Check for Overheating: System is running normally, other programs are running normally. I cleaned dust from the vents anyways.
  7. Reinstall the Game: I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game, and re-run the “Scan and Repair” multiple times.

Crashes happen at completely random times, and with completely random toons. Has happened in Valdraken on a regular toon while sitting in the bank chatting in guild. Has also happened to ReMix toons. I’ve updated all AddOns, but for the last several days I’ve run with NO AddOns at all, and the crashes keep happening. Most often the crashes happen when porting in or out of a raid/dungeon/scenario or hearthing. But can happen anytime, while opening chests, scrapping items, waiting for a rare to spawn, no pattern at all. There was a hotfix or some other update a few days ago and the crashes lessened for a while, but they came back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is really frustrating and the game is becoming unplayable.

You have a 13th gen intel that has tons of unresolved stability issues. Check with intel for all the updates and settings you need to change.

It was working perfectly before the 10.2.7 patch and from what i can tell from Dell’s diagnostics there are no updates for any of my components. But I will keep looking … what else can I do? And nothing else is having a problem, it’s just WoW that keeps crashing.

The chip has many issues related to heat and overclocking. You need to check that the BIOS is up to date and not doing any overclocking, that Alienware control center isn’t doing anything in that regard, and that any intel software you have is well behaved.

Well BIOS is up to date but I went in and lowered everything on my CPU and GPU and just finished my normal weekend dungeon run with the guild, running full AddOns and no disconnects, so it may have been the chipset, why it decided to become a thing now, I’ve no idea. But I will continue to monitor. And a big THANK YOU to Zungar.

It became a thing because running your CPU at what the motherboard will run it at slowly destroys it. The longer it has been used outside of intel specs the more unstable it will become. What the motherboards will allow them to run at overheats them and allows too much voltage to go through them.

Well it happened again, this time after a fresh reboot and the PC had been idle all night. Guess I might trying lowering settings even more.
