Blizz I know random bgs are just random but its still a bit frustrating when the opposite team has a stack of players or a few players with higher knowledge of the game and the other team doesn’t. It would be better if we could match the honor level to keep it fun and engaging. I know honor level doesn’t truly define skill but its a good first step. Also, fix the damn issue when one team has 4 healers or 2 tanks and the other doesn’t have either or
HL means very little.
Perhaps you haven’t noticed queue times?
The fact you then bring up team balance. Seriously?
Your epic BG que time would quadruple.
Unless it was removed and I missed it, there is already a separation based on HL. Separates after 30HL IIRC
Yes there are 2 brackets. Below and above 30 … unless they are grouping which means everyone goes into the leader honor bracket.
Is that character based or account based.
Account based
Well as of lately I have gotten hordies with honor level 16-25 and im honor level 56. I also get some with higher or same as me. Its a mixed bag.
Honor Level has nothing to do with player ability.
Nothing. At. All.
Queue separation will do nothing but bloat the wait timers.
They’re in a group with someone above HL 30.
Honor levels are account based, they mean nothing at all.
Someone who PVPed enough to unlock the base PVP artifact skin on multiple characters back in Legion would have started BfA at around 70 honor level or more. It’s purely based on time spent, no skill at all.
I should know, I’m pretty bad at PVP and have only ever done random BGs, but because of all my alts and obsessive need to unlock PVP skins in Legion, I’m at over 100 honor level.
It’s not realistic/practical to do matchmaking based on honor level.
There’s only so many honor level 200-300 players, only so many honor level 300-400 players, only so many honor level 400-500 players, etc. And of course, there’s tons of honor level 0-100 players.
Disagree. Almost always when bad strats are being called out (example: “go docks”), it’s some low honor level/PvE’er type person with like HL 25-40. I’ve noticed most of the toxic/loudmouth players in bgs are low honor level, too.
I find it’s a good gauge of bg knowledge, I’ve mostly had positive encounters with high HL players (they actually know the up-to-date strats).
Most of my bad experiences have been with lower honor level players, some of these guys haven’t played bgs in years (or so it seems).
Honor level at least does some, I see that a lot of you disagree yet you don’t bring better solutions to the table. We already have the honor system on the game might as well build on it and improve the quality of the game.
If they wanted to add a skill based element to the queue system they’d just do a hidden MMR.
They already can’t deal with gear disparity or faction balance so I doubt there’s enough people queuing to add another factor to random BG matchmaking.
Overwatch probably has a lot more people queuing than WoW and uses a matchmaking rating system for quickplay and arcade in addition to competitive, but you still get a pretty wide skill gap. Things like queue time and quickly filling games when someone leaves probably also take priority over trying to get a super close match in MMR. Everyone would be waiting forever for games that were all really close MMR and probably still not be consistently happy with their team anyway.
I’d just be happy with them dealing with gear disparity and making PvP more accessible to alts. People not doing objectives is something we’ve been dealing with for 15 years and wouldn’t go away even with MMR.
A high Honor Level doesn’t mean your character hits harder.
It just means you might be more skilled, at best. At the least, a high Honor Level shows you have done a lot of PVP.
I think ilvl would be more appropriate than honor level.
Or in the case of BfA, it should be based on how many tentacle corruptions you have.
