Yeah, I just barely started doing them again. I quit for awhile because I was just getting one shot all the time. Started doing them again for rep and realized I missed randoms. Now Iâm doing randoms with my velf mw monk.
Definitely counts. Iâm just looking to see if we can kinda spitball if anything has changed. Or if itâs just individual perception of it.
like, back in the day random bgs was all Iâd ever do. I played arena to get gear to do more bgs lol. Like it was just fun. The game I logged in to enjoy.
Eventually that feeling became that random bgs were a task I had to complete to accomplish something else, but I canât put my finger on when or why that perspective changed.
Recently Iâm back to enjoying random bgs for fun and the game Iâm logging in to play, but I donât know why specifically.
I queue epic BGs almost exclusively, fairly chill experience imo
Occasionally if thereâs a weekly/quest up Iâll do regular BGs, but I donât really enjoy them as much
The brawls are fun depending on which one is up
Main thing âmissingâ from the casual BGs experience is new content, if they would just commit to adding at least 1 new BG per expansion it would go a long ways
Yeah there is! Iâm not sure if thereâs a big honour skip as I farmed my pvp gear earlier in the expansion so I was already in some pvp gear when I came back.
itâs back to currency & buy piece. Thereâs a pvp vault thing kind of like pve though.
I can share why I do what I do and maybe that could help open avenues.
So, I almost-exclusively do EBGs. I typed up a massive post. Instead, itâs basically because Warhammer Online was by far my favorite PvP content. Realm vs Realm was a lot of fun and EBGs are the closest I can get to it in WoW even though theyâre barely similar.
Some things that keep me out of Battlegrounds and Arena. I canât handle the negative emotions of gamers nowdays. PvPers were always âwhinersâ. But now, itâs almost every match. Even if weâre winning! The other players do a lot to drag PvP down for me. I never really fit-in with the PvPers. Itâs definitely gotten worse over the years for me, though.
Another thing is PvP in WoW feels very automated to me. Like, if Alliance took Docks like they almost always do and theyâre about to knock down our door while weâre still struggling to hold/take Workshop and Airbase, then if we donât do anything about it we have lost. Yet, people just refuse to defend or try to retake Docks. Itâs like PvP is already âsolvedâ for a lot of people. One of the draws of PvP is the variance and I find that WoW has the least amount of variance of any MMO when it comes to PvP.
I still enjoy it despite all of that. The community and automation will keep me from really enjoying it like I used to. I tend to have more fun in other MMOâs PvP modes. I think a new EBG map would be amazing.
Maybe none of that was helpful. It was more of just me venting and I apologize. Hopefully it can add at least a tiny bit to your brainstorming. Good luck and I hope you have fun.
I stopped since I just drop dead immediately when entering combat. I think itâs a combination of being under-geared and everyone targeting the shammy.
I still PvP, in pretty much all forms except 2v2/3v3 arena, never really liked arena.
I feel that things have only gotten more lopsided in PvP over the years, in terms of player attitude.
There isnât a point in continuing to play if youâre losing, especially in Epic Bgs, because comebacks are extremely rare.
Another issue is the number of healers on each side- if itâs unbalanced, one of the teams will get stomped, period.
Gear is also a major factor- I see so many people in questing gear instead of PvP greens you can get off the AH.
Sorry, but if youâre not in PvP gear, youâll be nothing but fodder to the folks who do have it, which is likely everyone.
There isnât anyone that guides you to those 424 BoE PvP greens, so most people just skip them.
Imo, there should be the minimum PvP ilvl requirement for PvP queueing. 424 (full PvP greens) should be required.
Never understood why normal dungeons have an iLvL requirement, meanwhile you can enter PvP (except Solo Shuffle) pretty much naked, which is one of the reasons why itâs so stomp-y.
Have you tried ESO / Cyrodiil? Itâs made by the old DAOC devs. Itâs laggy but fills my void of large scale online pvp fairly well.
This is a double tie in for me. Iâve observed and lamented both of these trends, the âQuitting / Whinersâ becoming more rampant over the years, and the âsolvedâ kind of, itâs this way not that way attitude to a multi-faceted free to choose battle.
I personally blame character power creep for the low morale of players. Before we all became gods in Legion, generally power stayed somewhere in the realm of normalcy. Classes hit as hard as you expected them to outside of a few set modifiers, and playing around that wasnât always a trade. You werenât always dead for not having x y z button to press because they used their corresponding shiny button.
I think the problem with what borrowed power started back then, and weâre continuing now that weâve âkeptâ it as talents is that classes can overwhelmingly sway the tide of battle inside those cooldowns. So much so that itâs likely that one team can keep the upper hand once it gains it.
iâm not saying graveyard camps never happened. First time I had one was cata. theyâve been around forever. But it never felt like nothing could be done until borrowed power came along IMO.
This with time over years has lead to an all time low morale and a âjust let them win.â
no no, thanks. I kind of let out my own thoughts on the subject too.
