Blizzard, please - ask yourself:
Why would a person spend 17 minutes in a queue, waiting to do a battleground - just to queue into a match where the opposing team has 77 kills to your team’s 5 kills…and they’re being mercilessly farmed at their graveyard?
Can we just make random battlegrounds pick people from the queue, split them up based on ilvl and throw them on opposing teams? Don’t have an “alliance” and “horde” side. Just have opposing sides.
I get it - it’s not a “main function” of the game that people participate in – but the groundwork is there. It’s a way to pass the time. And if the rewards were at all worth it, more people would do it anyway.

It has been a long time since I have done a battleground but these two statistics do not seem able to exist at the same time. The horrible imbalance in PvP between Horde and Alliance usually gives the Alliance very short queue times, and the Horde usually dominates in PvP. Taking a long time to get into a loosing battle seems like a rare combination at best.
And you base this off of what limited set of data exactly?
I’m not looking to discuss horde/alliance imbalance anyway – start your own discussion if you want to veer off and sidetrack things. I want the issue at hand fixed. You shouldn’t have to wait 17 minutes to queue into a random battleground. And when you do, and it’s already a lost game, it’s terrible. Whether your limited statistical data supports it or not, the fact is, it happens…and it’s a problem. I’m a bigger Blizzard fan than just about anyone - when things are as bad as they are now, is not the time to be defending them to no end. One of the most valuable things a company can receive is honest feedback. That’s what I’m providing them. Because I love the game.

I think if a game is more than 50% over, new people should not be able to join.
I once waited 20 minutes in queue just to join a battleground that was 2 seconds from ending. When I loaded in, it already told me Alliance won and had the scoreboard up.

Idk what Blizz can do.
Take Battle of Gilneas - half the team leaves in the first minute if we dont get WW ASAP. Then the new people are like “darn it, a losing BG!”
I have waited for like 10 mins and then been thrown into a match where the Alliance is winning handily. It does happen.
But if new players couldn’t zone in, that would be rough. Sometimes, when we get an AFK guy removed, and replaced, it is just enough to turn things around.
I think simply putting people in teams regardless of Faction would be better. Could fix a lot of issues. At least as far as queue times.

We need to have ilvl brackets after lvl 60. The same as when you start a fresh toon from 0-60, every 10 ilvl’s. imo thats the closest thing to fair, instead of throwing ilvl 180/190 60’s in with people ilvl 245 and getting 1 shot.

Not gonna lie - I would love ilvl brackets for Max Level. But I am not convinced it is the best thing for the game.
Then the Higher End folks might complain that they have to keep a lower ilvl set, because the queue times are too long on the higher end. I am fine with that, but it would be a complaint.
You clearly haven’t done a battleground in a while because this exact scenario happened to me 2 times in a row this morning already.

Can you just carry if you are this good? oh wait you want to be carried because BG is won by item lvl not by capping azerite for example or positions right? PVP is not for cringe so just go do PVE
You guys are getting it all wrong. People can just change their gear inside the BG.
What you want is for everyone to have the same exact ilvl when they enter the BG. Even if they have 260 gear or 180 gear. Then it all evens out and you can change your gear all you want but it wont matter. The BG dictates the gear. It’s already in place.

It’s possible they’re trying to queue at night. It can take quite some time even for Alliance at that point, especially below level cap. There’s even been nights that I thought it wouldn’t pop at all, but then it finally did - and sometimes straight into matches that are already dead. Got to love random BGs lol
If they were really concerned about some kind of balance in this way, the gear ilvl disparity wouldn’t be like it is in the first place, I’m guessing. I sort of assume that they’re aware that these kinds of games are happening, and they really don’t mind – in fact they support it. Maybe the idea is that you’ll eventually be on a team that crushes the daylight out of the other team… so it all balances out… who knows.
If it happens it usually happens in wg or ashran. In wg, it’s not unusual to see 75% of your raid /afk after losing the sr fight. In ashran the same thing happens (albeit less often) after the roc fight. As a result, the game stars backfilling more aggressively and boom. You just wasted a 30min queue.

So you don’t want random to be random, I see. They have this other option for pvp where you can choose who you play with, it’s called rated. You should try it.
Still better than spawning into a broken Wintergrasp fortress
This is a forum meme, they don’t dominate random BGs. Epics have a low alliance win rate but regular random BGs are at least 50/50 and most good alliance players have way higher win rates than that. I have a 77% w/l overall for SL as alliance. And no matter which side wins, it is almost always a complete stomp one way or another these days, so the OP’s scenario is definitely possible.
