The level of inflation across game modes is getting out of hand and the level of unwillingness to address it is demoralizing. The rampant botting, gold buying and gdkps are getting to a point where regular players are unable to take part in their servers economy without submitting to the new norm of reaching for the credit card.
The community voices across multiple channels are being vocal about this and absolutely nothing serious is being done. Pretty close to being done and migrating to games where the developer gives a damn.
+1 /rant.
Have no idea about botting or gold selling, but the gdkp isn’t that bad on whitemane, theres way more pug runs on LFG than anything else. Are you sure you meant to include cata classic in your argument?
What in cata do you need gold for? Just doing a once daily inferno is like 1k a week if you loot mobs
lets also be real… a vast majority of people if they are buying gold are probably buying it from Blizzard anyway. Coin is a guaranteed delivery and won’t get you banned in the off chance they actually do something about it…
…and that isn’t going anywhere.
From what I can tell botting is actually pretty far down on Cata realms probably because of this. It is FOR SURE still there, but it is no longer rampant. As for inflation… I don’t really see it that much. Yes, right now as fewer players are playing the price of things have gone up as supply dropped. It will skyrocket here once DS comes out because demand will do the the same.
Then it will just level out again until the MOP explosion again. Not difficult to really see this coming.
If you literally just did Tol’Barad OR Molten Front dailies, not even both, each day, you’d make thousands of gold a week. Just play the game, bro.
I’m confused by what part of cata you can’t do with only a basic amount of gold, everything is very cheap, flasks are cheaper than they were in vanilla for example
It’s not inflation, the classic bots have largely moved to anniversary classic and supply is much lower on the things you want to buy. Lower supply means higher prices. You could do dailies or spend time farming the mats and make a lot of money. Fishing is big gold right now.
The WoW token exists and people are able to swipe their card to basically have an unlimited supply of gold. It’s valid gold going to the player, not from some third party website which would otherwise break the ToS and be bannable.
Blizzard has moved towards a model where they cater to small groups of heavy spending whales, rather than appease larger audiences with quality content. Every decision they’ve made in Classic has aided the RMT market. Ever wonder why they decided anyone can make a DK without leveling when they first added the “boost”? It’s specifically to aid gold farmers, who then continuously buy multiple accounts, which Blizz only bans after 4-6 months allowing botters to turn a profit and buy more accounts, cycle repeats.
Then you get the manchildren who defend GDKPs because their dopamine receptors are fried and they’re constantly chasing being “ahead of the curve”, which GDKPs provide as a business.
It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if Classic devs were side hustling as gold sellers, given the amounts some of these degens spend on pixels.
The bottng and gold buying definitely. The GDKPs no. GDKPs are a perfectly fine loot system and there would be no issues with them if there were no RMT. Don’t put up a straw man when trying to address the actual issue.
That is not how economies work. All the inflation is doing is making it so you cannot passively get by on dailies and gold you get from killing raid bosses… and you know actually have to participate in the economy by providing resources that are purchased for gold so that you can then use that gold to go and purchase other resources.
While the players are vocal, Blizzard is silent. Because they benefit from it. They don’t want it to stop. They want it to be just over the line where it is profitable for the gold sellers and no more.
That would be a game where there is no economy involved.
Yes, that’s inflation. Why do you think the market is able to handle higher prices? There’s an increased gold supply because of bots, who then feed it to GDKPers, who then circulate it into the game’s economy.
The vendor/alch mounts were considered huge money sinks back when GDKPs weren’t a thing in retail Cata…now they’re pocket change anyone can afford because people are getting tens of thousands of gold in payouts from bot-farmed RMT gold used in GDKPs.
Yeah… you a missing the key link there in your GDKP hate speech.
auction house bots are the most annoying pieces of scum in the game. I constantly report them yet they never get banned. I know they’re botting because I put something up and immediately the bot takes theirs down and reposts it ahead of mine. This is constant and have tested it for about an hour. Same movements to the mailbox, same movements back to the auction house, it got to the point where I was like lets see what happens if I post it for a much lower price, yep, instantly gets bought and reposted.
It doesnt have to be bots at all, there are players who spend a lot of time playing AH, buying and reposting higher and all this can be done very fast with addons.
The names they use are the best giveaway imo
Lol most of the time there is a Mailbox at the AH NPC so there is no movement.
Uhhh… you understand that the gold buying is legal thanks to the wow token right? If it’s “rampant” it’s by design. That said, I haven’t done anything but raid log for months now because consumes are so cheap.
nah they’re bots. I have video of them moving to the mailbox and back and it’s the same every time. I recorded for over an hour on 2 specific bots I see time and time again that are in game 20 hours AFK yet targeting the auction house npc. One trying to be clever and going to undercity where it’s dead and the other using the far auction house in orgrimmar. both of these bots also list many items for much lower than current hoping someone posts a fat stack of that item. I’ve tracked almost every single type of cloth these bots try to exploit players. I’ve tested posting the same items as these bots and every time they get bought within 2 seconds. There is no way a normal person can navigate to each item and buy it instantly.
Im not saying there are no AH bots, only that modern addons can do many things very fast and it might appear as only bot can do.
