Rampant affliction has to be baseline and not a PVP talent

Title says it all.
I don’t get why this is not baseline so Warlocks can have some flexibility with their PVP talent.

I was reading Icy Veins PVP guide yesterday just as a refresher on what talents people are running now, and it made me laugh because it has:

Mandatory Talents

  • Jinx because reasons
  • Rot And Decay reasons

Situational Talents

  • Rampant Affliction is another mandatory talent.

So cool we basically have 3 mandatory PVP talents but they slapped it into situational because… reasons? I guess it looked too silly having 3 mandatory talents?

Honestly, given Affliction’s difficulty in pve with small, but multi, count pulls… having that talent just be baseline for the class seems like it might be worth exploring.

If this was made baseline the damage of UA should either not get the flat 50% damage reduction like the pvp talent has, or the damage of UA should scale with the number of active targets.

So for example with 1 target it would do the same damage as now. With 2 targets perhaps a 25% damage reduction, and with 3 targets 40%. This way putting it on more targets is a damage increase without nerfing UA’s single target dps.

Given Aff isn’t exactly stellar in ST or 2-3 target encounters, would allowing it to be spread at full power really make much of a difference?

Probably not no. I don’t have much experience with Aff in PVE as it just takes a lot more work to play for less dps than Demo or Destro. But as far as I know though most of your damage is Malefic Rapture + Seed of Corruption so I really doubt having 1-2 extra UA targets at the current damage would do much more than a small dps buff.
