Raids should be divided into individual bosses

Raids no longer makes sense in 2022. People don’t have the time they used to. There’s more options for games to play, more distractions, and people are avoiding WoW because it’s seen as a game that requires devoting all your time.

WoW has evolved a lot. M+ can be done in 30-1 hour increments. PvP you can queue for a few games and call it a day. But not raid. Raid takes 2-3+ hours of solid commitment. So here’s my suggestion:

All of the raid bosses are accessible at any time, just like m+ dungeons. Each boss is in a different instance scattered across the open world. The whole set of bosses for the season are still on a lock out. The big difference is that you can pick and choose what bosses you want to do, tackle them in any order, and come back later after you’ve worked on one boss.

This system makes way more sense than the sequential raids we have now. It would be healthier for the players, and would be a step in the right direction towards evolving WoW for the modern age.

I don’t know. I think the idea is alright, but I feel like there sort of needs to be a challenge getting to the boss instead of having them be open world. Having adds makes sense because they’re guarding their boss you know. Now, I could see maybe having sort of a zelda themed raid, with puzzles and such to get to the boss. That way the whole raid is engaged and they can figure it out together and have the puzzles be randomized and different for all guilds/pugs.

I wouldn’t go as far as individual bosses, but if each wing was it’s own raid instance and half the trash was removed would be a good move for raids accessibility.

Umm, no I don’t think it should be like, only split like that. I think they need to remove the insane restrictions on mythic raid lockouts though.

There isn’t a raid boss below mythic you can’t just pop in and do and bounce though so that’s fine.

I do think maybe every patch or two having a “Lair” raid with 1-3 bosses would be good too.

I think that would help with the storytelling as well. Right now I’m not even sure why half of the raid bosses are even in the raid.

I personally like working my way to each boss raiding, however I do miss quick ones like Onyxia.

So your solution is to make raiding take even longer?

You win the worst-suggestion-I’ve-seen-today award, congrats!
Raids as they are now the best thing WoW has going for it. Making raids FF14 style would make them boring, have no atmosphere, or any sense of progression.

I like the ‘wing’ concept. Easy to pick up ‘fresh’ and do your 3-4 bosses when you have time. It’s why I like the concept of LFR in how it’s broken up, I can do it whenever I have an hour. But I don’t like LFR because it isn’t organized and most people AFK/don’t try. I want the LFR style but for normal/heroic. And if guilds want to do more then 1 wing a night they can, but it’d be easier for pug life.

PUG life is already easy, just join a group that’s on the bosses you need and leave after they are dead. You don’t owe a PUG anything, they’ll just replace you anyway.

VoA and Baradin Hold were fantastic

I’ve had issues in the past finding groups that a) need a healer b) still have a boss up I need etc.

Especially in SOTFO where groups do bosses in different orders. I found if I leave a group before cleared, I usually had to join a group and re kill bosses I already downed just to get to ones I needed, which is annoying.
