Asmongold was talking about how long raids are and why barely anyone Is raiding anymore. He’s right. It takes wayyy too long to complete a normal raid. There’s too much trash in particular. Most people who play wow ( adults) don’t have the time anymore to sit for 4-5 hours to complete a normal raid. I would like to see them shorten the length. Sitting for hours on end is not fun anymore to try to plow through the same old redundant mechanics and reward system.
Different legs of content for different people.
Us old timers grew up in the raid or die era. We will probably die under the same banner.
wiggles toes
I agree. I would prefer that they release multiple smaller raids per tier instead of the huge 10 boss raids.
I personally don’t mind the trash…but I do hate the 10-15 minute boss fights that have to be repeated over and over again as you wipe.
unrelated to recent mount drama, he is mostly correct about this.
i dont think that the raids themselves need to be shorter but the setup for them is absolutely nuts. splitting raids into smaller chunks wouldn’t hurt either, could be done in a way that changes next to nothing.
the important points he made, imo, were about summoning, buffing, running back after wipe/death ect ect ect. all amazingly bloated and dated, loads of room for improvement.
I don’t even understand why there’s trash in raids in the first place. Should be bosses only.
Asmongold lives in squalor. He needs to learn how to become an adult.
Yet his bank account says otherwise…
not sure how that is relevant to anything but since we are on the topic im sure he is worth magnitudes more than you
Asmongold is a streamer and fills his Raids in seconds with top tier players. How would he possibly know what the average person goes through while Raiding. He is talking about his own annoyances. If people are not in a good Guild that Raids they spend most of their time waiting for a pug to fill, they go to the Boss, wipe, because LFR has taught them that you can cheese the Mechanics and get away with it. Half the people leave, so again you sit there waiting for the pug to fill, over and over again.
Not sure where you get 4 or 5 hours my guild beat normal cn in 1.5 hours. The guy is exaggerateing for clicks.
This is accurate. WoW doesn’t operate in a gaming vacuum anymore. Gaming has exploded in popularity since WoW was released in 2004 and now game developers have to compete for a subset of players that have less available time to game with the most amount of gaming options at their disposal.
As someone who’s been playing this game I -and-out for 18 years, raising is currently impossible for me. I don’t have 6-10 hours per week, on a weekday or weekends, to dedicate to clearing content with no guarantee of a reward for putting in this amount of effort.
Blizzard has a serious end game retention issue and relying on LFR to give people who want to raid but don’t have the time commitment is not the right way to resolve this issue.
I would assume that they are talking about the regular raid cycle and not this tier specifically. Also, they are likely using normal as in “standard” instead of normal the difficulty.
People wouldn’t mind trash if they actually dropped stuff we could use, vanilla and TBC raids both had recipes and unique resources that only came from trash.
Marks of Illidari were very useful for buying flasks and before them, reputational items for scryers or even raid specific reputation, trash is boring if it feels like you don’t gain anything from killing them.
He’s a self-made multimillionaire, I’m sure he’s doing just fine as an adult.
nah i dont like him plus im making payments on a car from 2011 so im clearly doing better than he is

I don’t have the time specifically because I’m an old timer who grew up in that era. Key phrasing being that I grew up and there are now other higher priority demands on my time. I still enjoy raiding. I never enjoyed trash in raids.
Even though I enjoy WoW raiding more, I still find myself raiding in FFXIV way more often. Because I can log in and down a boss or three within a half an hour. In WoW? I’d be lucky to have half a group formed in that time.
Raids are supposed to be completed over multiple nights and sessions. That’s what progression is, throwing yourself at raid bosses and slowly moving forward. It’s normal to take a month or two to complete a heroic or mythic raid.
His carpet appears to have feces on it, but good for him?
I actually love raid fights. The fight themselves are absolutely fantastic. The mechanics are generally so well thought out. I suppose this is kind of why I gravitate towards fights like Grimrail, I really enjoy it not being a snooze-fest.
Thing is, though I don’t do them until around the end of an expansion (or even until a few expansions later, I mean for this reason I haven’t even cleared Ny’alotha!) because they…well…spot on, they take too long. It’s just…yeah.
Raids being larger and longer is one of the things that separates them from a dungeon and I hope they don’t carve them up to make raids more like dungeons when we already have a fully dungeon progression system.
With loot lockouts, cross realm, and flex it’s pretty easy to tackle the raid in chunks for those who don’t want to sit and clear the entire thing in 1 sitting.
