Raiding was more fun when it was mandatory

HAH. LOL EVEN. And Certainly KEK.

The fact that raiding was mandatory for pvp was one of the biggest complaints at the time… everyone hated that.

Not exactly wrong, lol.

I definitely stopped raiding once it wasn’t a ‘required’ part of the game. At least for PvP.

Ever since I’ve been able to get the best PvP gear strictly from PvP, that’s the majority of what I’ve done.

I imagine very few people raid just to see the raids (LFR also exists and TWW is getting a story mode), most are probably doing it for the gear. I used to be one of those folks.

Eh, I liked WoW more when it encouraged cross-pollination between pillars.

Everyone started out doing normal dungeons, then heroics, then raids. And doing so was needed to get the best PvP weapons and stuff because it wasn’t separated by iLvL.

Today’s WoW has everyone leveling together, then separated immediately at max level after doing normal/heroic dungeons. Each pillar has been completely segregated from one-another.

There’s no reason to run M+ or Raid if you PvP, and vice-versa.

Imo, it really took the “world” out of World of Warcraft.

Feels more like “Your own corner of Warcraft” lol, but I understand why they moved in that direction. I just don’t like what it’s ended up as.

I genuinely think things were better when they tried to force the player out of their own comfort zone, even if players were against it. Because it meant seeing content that you wouldn’t normally see.

It wasnt mandatory before and it isnt mandatory now. Depends on your goals in the game. Always has been

Raiding was more fun in my twenties when I had endless hours to burn, no other responsibilities, and no spouse to spend time with.

Raiding has never been mandatory to enjoy the game. Giving players choices is a good thing. WoW would not have become the success it is without expanding beyond raids as the only endgame activity.

if you wanted BiS PvP trinkets, you had to raid to get them
