Does anyone else find it a bit weird that killing 2 Heroic bosses gives 649 ilvl gear in your vault, while clearing 1 +7 Mythic gives you 658? I was practically AFK healing several +7s last night and we spent 4-5 hours Heroic raiding this week for a significantly less reward.
Am I taking crazy pills, or is raiding even less rewarding this tier than previous?
UPDATE: Interestingly enough - when I looted this week, the reward it said I was getting was clearly going to be ilvl 649, but the item available this week was ilvl 652. Did anyone else notice that? Still think the vault reward for Heroic bosses should be on the level of +7s at least, full stop, but any buff is a step in the right direction.
Oh, not complaining - Stix is actually a really fun fight. I just saw the rewards awaiting me in the vault - the two vault slots of 658 gear for just hanging out with my buddies last night while drinking beer and pounding out some +7s - and the 1 slot I got for ilvl 649 gear after sweating my butt off vs Stix and had to scratch my head. It just seems… off.
Mythic+ in general shouldn’t give out mythic gear. Mythic raiding is just a lot harder and deserves the gear and mythic gear in mythic+ has only made the mode worse.
With that being said mythic+ giving hero track gear is fine
At the end of the day, raiding is mandatory if you want BIS items. M+ has always let you get your ilvl up faster, but you needed to raid for the real good stuff.
Raiding has been dogcrap for gearing since at least BfA with it’s weekly M+ chest (potentially Legion as it had one too, I just don’t remember the specifics of Legion M+ rewards as I didn’t pay as much attention to it then).
The tradeoff is that Raid often has BiS Trinkets and an item or two with special effects that make it BiS.
For me, personally, having a small handful of slightly overtuned items is not a good enough reason to spend the amount of time raid prog takes for most people. It’s why I quit my almost decade-old raid team halfway through BfA, and literally nothing has changed since then. M+ is still blatantly overpowering for general gearing purposes.
It’ll probably never change. Blizzard uses the Vault as a pseudo-lockout for M+. The Vault IS the timegated prog reward, since M+ itself doesn’t have a built-in timegate.
They’d need to mess with the key system to tie the lockout to the keys if they wanted to normalize the Vault rewards to not inflate the ilvl.
Say: Keys have 3 or 4 charges. Loot is guaranteed when opening EoD chests but consumes a charge, and the charges carry over into your new key (if it’s changing). Vault Loot is now equal to what the highest M+ you ran that week dropped, no higher. EoD Loot now scales up to +15s with 12-15 dropping Myth Track or something. (I’d argue M+ just shouldn’t drop Myth Track but people would riot)
That said, Delves now also exist. It’s less relevant since standard runs only drop Champ Track and the once-a-week map as well as the vault caps at Hero Track, but it does the same thing as the M+ Vault row. You’re running Champ Track content and getting Hero Track in the vault for it.
So at this point it’d probably be easier for Blizzard to just have the Raid Vault Row ALSO upgrade a track for no reason.
All gear from actual Mythic Raid would generate at max ilvl upgrades or something.
gearing in raiding has been trash for years at this point its never been a system where you can gear up by just raiding, not only do the bosses drop way to little loot, the amount of effort to actually get loot in a raid is painful, then to make matters worse you need to complete so much of the raid for the garbage vault to unlock, t hen instead of making it better they add this painful rep grind system that does nothing instead of putting the focus on making the gearing system better, but who am i kidding wows gearing system has always been garbage, way to much reliance on RNG boxes and the vault which has needed to die the day they added it.
no it isnt. the hardest part of mythic raiding is getting 20 people on at the exact same time every week and not getting burnt out after wiping on a boss a bunch.
I believe it’s a bit of a destructive mentality to compare different content types because they’ll never be fair.
For a super quick summary why I think it’s ok the way it is: Raid: Hard won loot while progging, very time efficient on farm. Dungeon: Go to for initial gearing. Limited by Hero drops and RNG for Mythic (10+ only). Delves: Super accessible solo gearing path with a mythic craft/3 weeks. Limited to Hero for non crafted pieces.
dude its mythic if 1 person messes up its a wipe. like i said the hardest part of mythic raiding is other people. you can be the single best person in the world in this game and if the other 19 are garbage your not soloing a mythic raid boss…
same response. you people cant even think of anything other than that 1 argument. mythic+ is far more difficult since mythic raiding is ment to be completed where as m+ will eventually reach a point where mathematically its impossible something raiding hasnt seen since what c’thune which was like 19 years ago.
