Raiding used to be epic, now its like going to class

We meet again, Rosenylund. But now I’m on your side for a change. :joy:

I’m totally with you. The new, more complicated raid design is really good for WoW and makes raiding a ton of fun.

Legion raids were all amazing. Even if a few were annoying for the tanks. (Looking at you, High Botanist)

BfA’s raids aren’t bad either. But progression in BFA is, so Raid quality is pretty null.

I will never understand these “raiding is too complicated” threads. Raiding is supposed to be as big and grandiose as WoW gets!

How many WoWs has passed? How many Bosses have they created? How many fight mechanics that they have introduced? Havent you notice, they are trying their best not to have raid fights the same as previous Bosses? This is the result. Is it boring for you? Which is more boring? Copying the raid fights of before would be boring. Good thing, Blizz is keeping the games fresh. Corruption is a good added mechanics… it spiced up your gameplay whether you are just on World PvE, PvP, Mythic + or Raid. With just this, it makes BFA way more fun.

So what… its part of the encounter. Its survivable or nobody would beat these things. Or are you just upset that your madDPS suffers a bit? I’m honestly confused as to the complaint. Why wouldnt a raid boss turn on one guy here and there and try to get him away… he’s being killed by these people.

Hard disagree. Simple bosses that were only difficult because they required a significant amount of gear is not ‘epic’.

Multiple avenues to gear up and much more complex bosses is a much better design. In the old days, you could be a mouthbreathing moron who could play 24/7 and eventually you’d be god tier item level because you put in so much time. On the contrary, good players with limited time got shafted.

Now, anyone can gear up quickly, but if you suck you just won’t clear bosses, regardless of how much time you put in.

Having a relatively level playing field with different levels of difficulty is a much better design then gating progression behind gear only hardcore raiders can obtain.

I was waiting for a comment like this because I knew I couldn’t be the only one. Stat-free resist gear is something I would be super happy to never see come back to the game again. Trying to DPS in AQ with downgrades from Maraudon equipped (lv40 gear in a lv60 raid) felt stupid. Spending the today’s equivalent of probably about 1mil to get a single piece of gear made from the world dragon scales because otherwise you’re not going to down Huhuran, was obnoxious.

On the other hand, the mechanics are starting to become a little too numerous. You can’t have every boss do EVERYthing. I would love to see time spent to think up one really cool super unique thing (best, something thematic to the boss) for a boss to do and then maybe add in a couple more “you’ve seen these before” tricks instead of having every boss throwing every mechanic ever thought of in WoW’s history. One relatively recent boss that comes first to mind when I say this is Iskar from Hellfire Citadel. But Jaina’s cannons and the ordinances were good examples too.

(BTW, to the person who thinks some of these abilities make no sense… For example, Jaina isn’t firing the cannons to help us… They just happen to do something we are able to make use of when they miss. This doesn’t seem non-sensical, it seems like us making lemonade from lemons during the fight. She’s done something that has – from her view – an unintended consequence which makes perfect sense as a possible mistake while fighting.)

So you suggest, Engineers make their own cannons instead and bring it to the raid to fight Jaina. And also Engineers to make their own thing to destroy Corals on Ashvane? And Engineers to make… etc, etc.

Let’s make the raid mechanics all about Engineers making stuffs to break raid bosses. Would that game more fun to you?

As much as I detest mechanics, it’s seemingly the only way to keep the game from becoming more boring than it already is.

What I don’t like is that there is way too much going on graphics effects wise for some fights, instead of keeping the screen crisp and clear so it’s easier to detect hazards.

The other thing I don’t like is one boss it’s okay to stand in the fire or void zone, and the next boss it’s not okay to stand in the fire or void zone, and then the next boss half the raid has to stand in the void zone and the other half has to stand in the fire, and so on and so forth–it’s stupid.
