RaiderIO Personal Data Violation

Blizzard,
today RaiderIO asked me unavoidable permission to collect my personal data.
This has gone too far, please implement similar ratings using your own in game means for that (hint: ilvl is not it, we need MMR for dungeons).
On the other hand you can make public announcement that you running side ads business on that portal and its services.
Please.

Raider IO has always been shady AF. People just accept it and use it anyway because they want to “own the casuals, and to hell with my personal identity if it gets stolen”

What “personal data” is RIO taking from you exactly?

They want to dig through my very personal cookies and browser files.
There is a lot of data which I dont want to share with rio.

Where specifically does it state that they want access to your personal cookies and browser files?

Why is this any different than Blizzard looking through your personal files and cookies? (Which it does to check for cheating software running in the background)

The tryhards will just have to accept identity theft as the price for “owning the casuals”.

Blizzard got responsibility of a big company and a public face to lose.
Rio … what is rio?

Again, where specifically does it state that they want access to your personal cookies and browser files?

Why are you okay with giving a large company/corporation access to your files and data when are so easily never held accountable for this?

in the agreement they showed me when I wanted to recheck my score today.

You understand that all 3rd party addons use the same data they’re pulling, correct?

There’s literally an option on your Blizzard account to disable to pulling of data from 3rd party applications/addons/etc if you don’t want them to track your data.

It is in your security/privacy options for your account, which you can turn off.

No addon can communicate with any API.
Get your facts straight.

Incorrect. RIO, warcraft logs, check PvP, etc can all pull your data the exact same way. It’s how I track people on here who are using alts to post fake things so I can fact check them.

Again, you can turn this off in your account settings.

One more time, no addon can access anything outside.
Get your facts straight please.

Except they can, and they do. If you install RIO it tracks all your characters that are attached to your Blizzard account since you agree to attach your Blizzard account to RIO if you make an account on their website.

Again, you can turn this off in your account settings and they cannot pull your “personal” data.

How quaint, you do realize this parlor trick of yours is entirely worthless if some one jumps on a classic toon.

Cool!

You do you. If you really want to put that much effort into hiding who you really are, then why would anyone sit here and believe anything you’re saying? We have no reason to believe anything you’re saying at all when you act that suspicious.

Anyways, to stay on topic… you can turn this off in your account settings and they cannot pull your “personal” data.

another option is to use mmochampion instead if you want to talk about something that people tend to armor search or try to alt hunt you over. This way even if they do find out who you are, there is nothing much they can do and raido io can’t pull mmochampion data.
