There are more players queueing than there are groups for them to join. That problem doesn’t go away with the removal of io. I swear you people blame every reason under the sun for why you’re not getting into groups, but nobody ever wants to address the real problem. The only viable option to bypass this issue is to make your own group.
I know full well some people are never going to make their own groups, never ever ever, and I know this because I’m one of them The anxiety of leading a group? Yeah that’s not gonna happen, I’ve played since BC and have made exactly 0 groups in that time (a lie, I’ve made groups for world rare kills because there’s no expectation of strategy or knowledge there ). So it is gatekeeping but there’s nothing Blizz can do about peoples mental conditions
I just look at the server name anymore. I thought all the jerks on Illidan finally went away Not saying that server is ALL full of trolls, but unfortunately too many from that server tend to be that way around here. But that’s also like saying that all players from another server are all bad players.
But anyways:
Hi Icypickles, haven’t seen you on the forums in quite a while. How have you been?
With that said I’ve been astonished at how many 7 and 8 keys are full of people who stand in the bad, never mitigate, don’t interrupt, and fail to do the most basic mechanics. Until I saw it for myself I would have not believed it.
I use rio to see if the person has completed any keys at the level I’m trying as well as how they’ve progressed on the specific dungeon I want to run.
If I’m trying a +7 and you’ve never done anything past +3 I’m not inviting you. If you’ve timed other 7’s but not the one I’m trying you’ll get an invite. If you’ve completed the dungeon 1 or 2 Levels below I’ll also invite you.
Nothing toxic about that.
What is toxic is getting into a key way above your head and expecting a carry.
Listen im very good but io is a tool build for exclusion and bullying and now blizzard is making their own just shows what the company thinks about the massive casual player boss, thats ok we all know how cartering to elitist went for wildstar
No.
just because you aren’t comfortable making your own group does not mean that this is gatekeeping, you are still able to join other groups, and just because you have made your own group does not mean you have to “lead” the group.
There are plenty of communities that you can join that do lower end content and don’t have requirements. No one is preventing you from doing the content but yourself. If you aren’t making an effort to at least join those communities or make your own group.
You’re right, it is. With more people queueing than there are groups for them to join, how would you go about excluding people? Because no matter how what, people will be excluded…for no other reason than there’s no room for them.
That’s fine, I am too. But you have to realize that at any given moment there’s 5 times as many people applying to groups than there is groups for them to join. Somebody’s getting left out. Making your own group is the only way to bypass that
I mean not really, IO just gives people an excuse to deny entry into doing Mythics because “your bad”
It fails to really take into account that your run got screwed because of leavers, someone else being awful… Real life problems interrupting your run or the fact you just may not have a stable group of people you play with.
I’ve seen some guild members be treated exceptionally rudely who are just starting out because they don’t have IO or Don’t have “high scores”
It’s just a poorly calculated way to gate keep people from having to help other people get better through experience
Just go fire, damn. This is all probably stemming from him getting kicked from groups when they bring in a mage and then find out they’re not fire. If anything Blizz implementing their own version and io fading away seems like it would be the opposite of supporting bullying because now they’re in control of how the rating/scoring is handled instead of another entity. Now if they implement a button where if you walk by someone who has a lower score than you and your toon /point and /laugh at them, that’d be closer to actual bullying.
while I agree that player scores promotes various versions of elitism it has always existed in various forms from your gear, to your achieves, etc
Not very valuable feedback. Better feedback would be your suggested solution. Block all addons and API’s that see your gear and achieves and change every player to ‘opt-in’ to anyone else seeing their gear?
It is not an easy solution by any means.
Think deeper than the knee-jerk response. What would you have them do and have you even though of how that would really play out or if it would really solve anything?
