Raider.io, ilevel and gear score elitists are what ruins the community

Before I state my opinion, I am gonna say I dont care about the above. I dont do content that would require it anymore and have no plans to. This is just an observation. No need to armory me - I dont do that content.

Why did I say the above? Because those methods are designed to have a smooth easy run and I can respect someone wanting that. I can however, also see the downside. No I am not talking hurting feelings or pushings some players out.

Ask yourself. How does a smooth run go? Zone into instance. Maybe a hi or two. do instance. Maybe say thanks and leave group. I have no stats but in my experience in OLDER dungeons, thats how it ran. People dont talk on smooth easy runs.

When you have difficulty or demand group coordination (like CC) people will at least talk strategy. Probably nothing else but at least that. Maybe a funny comment will open a group up to more talk.

Most talk IMHO comes from DOWN TIME. Maybe running back from your corpse. Maybe having a time gate (like going all the way back to EQ sitting in camps waiting for mobs to spawn). I know my guild talked the most during the Saurfang the Younger windbag dialogue in Wrath. It sucked sitting there waiting, so we talked to make it better.

So only running with the best geared most experienced players gets you the shiny lootz but it hurts the community by missing opportunities for building bonds with other player. Now add in how mentoring a lower geared/skilled player could actually make a friend and/or a new guildy. If nothing else, taking a small chance with that kind of player builds up the entire playerbase.

Just my 2 cents

/looks up at thread title.

A little too late on that… I mean with a title like that I think it is pretty clear what your opinion is before I even opened the thread.

Push your own key. Stop being a child because you can’t get free gear from a +10.

I blame the Canadians.

I mean, linking a ~raider.io score for pugging M+ is like linking logs to to apply to a guild. it’s essentially the same thing. If you keep getting declined because of your score/parses, what do you do? Instead of weeping on the forums and crying that a site needs to be removed, take action and fix your scores/parses by making your own groups or by applying to lower difficulties to boost your gear/scores. It’s really not that hard.

While my pally hasn’t dont any of the content yet, it’s because im not trying to do a +10 at 350 ilvl. Im doing every possible content first for upgrades before applying for keys. The only issue is io links my main’s score too, which will help A LOT for alts.

That’s why we add IDs of good players we run into?

See, RIO is used for high keys, 10+. That’s not where you mentor new players.

Stranger pugs aren’t a community. I can’t even invite a cross-realm pug to my guild if they wanted to join.

I’m not even part of your community. We have our own.

Where does community begin than? I have been playing MMORPGs for 20 years (yeah since EQ). I havent found friends by posting an app to their guild online. Most people I met were from downtime. In random pugs.

I so wanted to say something but I dont want another ban. THANK YOU!

You didn’t even read the OP. If you had then you would’ve responded differently or your reading comprehension is that of a 1st grader. Talk about childish.

Dang Canadians…

Wait, why are we blaming Canada?

Why not blame them?

People will give others a chance but if you don’t have a raider io people are probably not going to want you to ruin their +10. It’s very similar to running a heroic dungeon before you could just use LFG, people probably wouldn’t want someone who has not ran the original normal dungeon and understand the basic mechanics of it before attempting the heroic version.

Raider io is very similar to this. You have to work your way up the ladder. You might start out doing a +0 or a +2, do that a little bit and get a feel for the mythic mechanics as well as the affixes, then you gain a higher score and you can start doing +4s, etc. You can eventually work your way up. The mythic dungeon system isn’t designed to just jump into a +10 right away…

In the past this didn’t need to be like this. You could simply look at the players item level and infer how good/bad they were at the game. If they had gear from high end raiding or high end dungeons you could assume that they were typically pretty good. BFA practically gives out gear so another systems needs to be in place to vet players on how competent they are in certain situations.

In most things I do so far as wow is concerned, community building is not a priority. Community and the necessity for the type of “interactive” community you’re fawning over died for nearly all aspects of the game ages ago with the introduction of cross realm group finders. Whereas before, I used to need to be concerned with being able to find competent people to play with because they were in such short supply on one server, I can now find competent people basically 24/7 since it draws from such a large base. No longer do I NEED to make friends. Supply is more than enough to remove that.

They are too nice. They set the bar too high so we cant have any toxicity in our community.

It still applies to people who complain about .io

I would take incompetent over jerk any day. I play the game to enjoy it. As fun as getting gear is, I am over the gear treadmill since EVERYTHING will be replaced next patch. I dont do random BGs anymore because I dont want to deal with the ragers in game if we start losing.

Maybe that makes me casual, but gear is less important than being around fun people.
