You can sim non-azerite pieces; but I guess you have to pay money to find out what combination out of thousands optimizes your character.

You can sim azerite gears. Just not the wholesale sim droptimizer one.
Even under gear compare - It doesnt seem to be able to search for the new Benthic azerite gear.
You can only really sim what you have in your bags. I use Wowhead guides to get my BiS info also so it cuts down on the sims per session so you do not go over the limit and have to pay to get more results or add more pieces to the sim.
You can sim any item using gear compare.

That’s weird. I did sim benthic azerite before with gear compare.
Though, I did have a problem with item search before. Basically it’s because I’m mostly using ipad. And apple have this smart punctuation that change straight apostrophe into prettier curly apostrophe. I don’t know if other OS have this similar function. But raidbot won’t search the curly apostrophe.

Welp, i put Azerite pieces in my bag, and use best in bag, check all the azerite perks and it compares it for me for free. I think i just can not go over 64 iterations i think it is. Just tried it a few min ago and it was working that way, so yeah, working for me free.
They can you just have to enter them manually into your /simc
If you go to wowhead the URL will give you the itemid and bonusid you just plug it in manually.
