Disclaimer: I never ran GDKPs in SoD (but I do in Era). I am probably never returning to SoD, so I don’t really care what happens to GDKPs. I do find it interesting to think about the potential impacts of the ban though.
Now, when you think of raids:
- Supply is the amount of groups that are willing and able to clear the content.
- Demand is the amount of people who are wanting to show up to those groups.
When you remove GDKPs you shrink the supply - guilds have no incentive to bring newer players since they will take items and offer nothing (unless the roster is lacking). Geared players have little incentive to continue running content.
However the demand remains about the same.
Thus you get into a situation in which people will probably become far more picky about who they take to raids (i.e. don’t take undergeared, low parsing, unexperienced players) even in SR / guild runs because they are a risk to the gearing of the current players and since demand grew relative to supply there will be lots of geared players available to take.
