Anyone miss raid reroll tokens? The opportunity to bonus roll a boss you need something from was awesome!
no the vault took the place of bonus rolls and is better
Nope. Getting disappointed once per boss is enough for me.
Yeah bonus rolls were great. Target your rolls against bosses you cared about.
And get gold or a piece you didnt want 99% of the time.
Gold thats not even enough to repair one item.
The bonus rolls resulted in you acquiring loot you actually want more frequently.
If X boss drops Y trinket, I bet you I’d get it sooner with the bonus roll system oppose to relying on the vault.
I can count on one hand the number of times I got an item I wanted via reroll coins in the 8 years we had them.
The Vault is where it’s at. Love Tuesday.
Likewise, I can count the times the vault has given me an item I specifically wanted on one hand.
I have a lot of memories where the bonus rolls have come in clutch for me.
The typical scenario is I get nothing useful.
A good outcome is when you get something you can at least use.
Very rarely is it the item you want.
The mentality of the vault is to post in the mega-complain thread shortly after Tuesday maintenance
But with bonus rolls you would see people port out of raids to grab their tokens every week. Why? Because they paid off.
It was ok…a tiny bit of bad luck protection that usually only gave you AP. But without borrowed power grinds and the vault offering 3 raid options, the bonus rolls are an outdated system. Though I won’t deny, rolling on a boss, seeing the loot bag pop up, then actually getting the item you were hoping for did indeed feel pretty awesome. The vault just doesn’t give you the same dopamine hit.
On the other hand, if your an aotc raider like me, the raid row is almost completely useless compared to the m+ row. So yea, it would be nice to be able to target a specific boss’s loot table.
The vault is an objectively better system, I’m glad we will never have coins back personally.
I didn’t like them at all. They were very expensive and often provided no loot for very long periods of time. I do not like the vault or how it works, but it still better than the old token system.
I think the best system would be to remove all of the currency, tokens, vaults etc, and just make 2-3 pieces of loot drop for every 5 players in a raid group, and have 5 pieces of loot drop at the end of timed M+ keys.
The vault is better for general gearing of a character early on but worse for targeting specific pieces. If we had to pick just 1, I would pick vault as well because I think that was a bigger need for the game overall. But there’s no reason why we can’t have both save for Blizzard’s obsession with keep loot out of player’s hands for as long as possible.
It’s not objectively better because there is a specific use case that players care about where it’s strictly worse. That’s fine if vault is better for how you want to gear, but not everyone has the same goals or values the same things.
I’d agree with this. I’d take the re-roll tokens back if they dropped the currency that lets you buy crests and sockets, whenever you don’t get a piece of gear. Otherwise, the vault is faster for gearing. You at least get some kind of bump most of the time, unless you’re all on the top crests, but then you shouldn’t be needing help at that point, anyway.
What bugs me is that a lot of the BIS items aren’t just boring stat sticks that happen to make your number go up more than other boring stat sticks. Many are legitimately fun to press and even if they were just on par with the alternatives, I’d prefer to have the fun thing to press. The RNG quagmire that is vault is just not a good way to try to get that fun shiny toy, even if I can get more of the less shiny but more functional toys with vault.
What about a chance to reroll your vault X times a tier? 3?
Say your vault is a complete dud, hit one of your reroll charges and it changes every selecting for you that week.
i do not miss them
i got ap anima or gold from them
only time the tokens should come back is at the end of the expansion
so weird how many people never got anything from bonus rolls! they weren’t perfect but it felt like i had more agency over which pieces i wanted to target.
People hated bonus rolls.
Blizzard even called the gold inside “pity gold” in one blog post.
